my RS new birthday

I don't disagree that the Carrera is a ton of fun and very capable, I drive mine at a level that keeps me close to the likes of PJS, a fully track prepped 996GT3 (Dyno'd at 390 at the rear wheels), and a couple of well prepped 964 RSA's. I know that after driving my Carrera for about 4 years, and now driving a these other cars a few times, that the GT3 is just that much more car then, and a Carrera can never be a GT3. As for costs, the starting point is a little less, but the journey is the same amount. I am just saying that using a GT3 is IMO the better starting point.

i think we all agree, just indvidual scenario differs.
gomez and mo already got 997 that's 1/2 stripped and kitted out for track. for them to sell the car now and buy GT3 to start again the delta is huge.
knowing what they know now, if they had no cars, i am certain they will start with a GT3.
now, how does PJS get 390 on his blue car? i just emailed him......
i dyno'd at 352.

The GT3 in my garage right now is not PJS old one, it is another one that belongs to another friend.

That is exactly the discussion a bunch of us have been discussing, a Cup car would be a lot of fun.

Also another thing to take into account is how good a driver are you realistically and when are we ready for a cup? Some people get cup cars that are not ready for them. I know this because in the past I have catched up to them and pass in my little 997s. And to me it seems like a waste if the driving skill is not there. I would say humbly that I'm still not ready and have a lot to learn before getting into a car like that.

I agree, you have to learn to walk before you can run Flat Out!

Hey guys, thanks for the enthusiastic input. I am no speed racer like most of you but I can't stand hauling all the none essential junk in my RS for track duty. This is a "hybrid" strip RS where I still retain OEM door, radio, AC etc for minor street comfort. I am sure the day will come sooner than later when I dump all none essentials and put a speedo jammer on my RS

Love the work you do on your car. You're meticulous.
That being said, this is something you'd only do with the intention of retiring the car from street use, which beckons the question-- why not go for a cup car?
I'm curious as to the motives behind a GT3 RS track car versus a cup. Is is the traction control? Or convenience since you already have your car (especially considering the modifications you've done).
Either way, you've got one hell of a car. I know you enjoy it!

no offense of course... I would have gotten a 997 gt3 if it was not for the sunroof... I have immense disdain for the sunroof... and yes North Van... I am aware that I could have a sunroof car converted to non-sunroof car etc.. save it.
