Performance difference GT3RS .1 vs .2
How much of a performance difference especially low end torque is there between the older and newer GT3 RS. I drove an 08 and felt that the torque was a little weak but the tech numbers for the newer model shows a higher torque and hp. Is this difference something that is very obvious when you drive it. I have the opportunity to buy either a used 08 that I drove and loved except for the weak low end and now a used 2011 is available that I have not driven but before trying to sample it I wanted to get some feedback on the performance difference.

The .2 version definitely has more low end torque, which is compounded by the shorter gearing. They are both great cars, but the .2 version is a little more special imo because of its differences from the standard GT3.

Also - is the difference in price of $60-70K worth it?

To put that into perspective, at our local track there is not really any laptime difference between the GT3.1 and GT3RS.1 but there is a huge laptime difference with the GT3RS.2. It is not only the engine. The larger front end, etc. In good hands, the GT3RS.2 is not that far from a 09 GT3 Cup actually.

There is an GT3RS MKII for sale on Rennlist for $120K. I have not even seen MKI RS for less then 90K so the differenece is only $30K. I can't see the logic of buying a MKI for that money. The difference is too big, 3 years warranty, seats Ti exhaust OEM grills, seats, downforce gearing 3.8.... Ran 2:22's and 2:23's at Sebring a few weeks ago. Flatout of course ;-) If you can afford $120K all other GT3's are too expensive...

Seems to me that alot more people (and the factory) are not choosing the PCCB's with the MK2's, so it's lowering the relative msrp's considerably.....unlike the MKI's, where you can hardly find an RS without PCCB's.

very, very compelling points, and most MKI RS's are still well over 100K, definitely the CPO's. I'm only interested in a pre-owned RS, so I'm looking at them all the time.
