Radar Detector Question(s)

I've picked up a Passport 9500ix when i first got my GT3 and it has been great. Safely getting me from point A to point B with no hassles. I just got back from a road trip to Fresno from Orange County. On the drive up and down the 5 and the 99 I had the following alerts:

K band: multiple alerts but only saw a police car once - generally the alert was unexplained or turned out to be a stationary "how fast you are going" type sign

X band: numerous alerts and never once could I identify any connection to any law enforcement activity

Radar: two alerts and only once did I find a possible source (motorcycle on an access road area)

Ka band: numerous alerts and every single time CHP or police cruiser was spotted at some point.

From LA to Bakersfield the Ka band was lit up (Sunday evening) from all the police activity. Not a good highway to drive much over the limit (even without all the trucks)

My question is: who uses X band? and do we even need it on radar detectors? Is it more common in other parts of the state or country? It seems like it is used primarily for doors at grocery stores etc.

This topic is probably best suited for another part of this board, but I get all my car info from the GT3 section! haha

thanks
