anyone that tracks their car (like 58spdster) knows that 18" is the way to go..(all pluses imo) it also helps with gearing...

why do you think Porsche ran 18" bbs wheels on the 2010 RS at the 24hrs of Nurburgring.... I doubt it was because of tire cost...

BTW I love your new license plate... its fitting :P

Glock Guru laid out the reasons very clearly. And I fully concur. What I was wondering is, if you already had a set of 19" wheels, in addition to the OEM wheels, then why spend the $$$ for a third set of wheels?

Trying to keep things simple. Is it cost of tires, performance, what.

So confused......
fewer 19" width tires in R6
18" you can run 315, 335, maybe even bigger. same goes with fronts.

if you run r80/r100 hoosier slicks, you have no choice in 19".

if you dont run different width, then 19" would be fine.

You been talking to my wife? I Plan to keep the 19" wheels and will run another set of Pirrelli Trofeo's for street and wet tracks. Could have done the same with the stock rims but was looking for a lighter wheel and the
GMG 19's were available before the 18's. Probably overkill.

Both looks great and I understand the 18 reason for track. The 19's though really look awesome on G Red.

I see those 18's are heat cycled. They last so much longer and wear better when that's done.

Knowing the stock size 19's are 235/35/19 and 305/30/19....what size 18's did you go with?

I see people use both
245/40/18 and 305/35/18....same size diameter as stock 19"

OR

255/35/18 and 315/30/18...smaller diameter than stock 19"

For the first set of 18's I mounted 245/35 and 315/30. They are slightly smaller in mounted diameter than the stock 19's, but have pretty close to the same height ratio front to rear. I'll have a better sense of how this works after this weekend at road atlanta. I'm typically getting close to the rev limiter in fourth at the end of the back straight (about 155 mph) with the 19" wheels and Pirelli's. I may have to shift into fifth with this set up.

I've got enough room, I think, for the 255/35's up front and 335/30's in the rear with -3 and -2.5 degrees of camber front and rear. Lot's written about this on RL
