Pre-Owned 2010 GT3
#16
I bought a used 2010 guards red about a month ago. The only option I really wish it had is the front end lift system because of my angled driveway.
As for the other options, I'm not a good enough driver or care enough to really have to have any of them.

I don't feel as passionately about the engine mount option as others. I think for most it would be noticeable. Unless you are a track monkey and are down to squeezing out that last second or two you've been struggling with for the past decade at a particular track, I'm pretty certain most mere mortals would never notice the difference and it probably won't be cheap if it fails.
If you track the car, stay away from ceramics. They're very costly to replace and the performance is excellent with the steels.
Personally, I say get as many options as you can. I like having the amenities. Buying a stripped car doesn't makes sense to me, especially a 6 figure car. Again, most of us will probably turn the same laps with a nav unit and full leather in the car
I've got full leather, Nav, deviated stitching, yellow belts, etc... It really makes the car from a cosmetic perspective. Although I do enjoy tracking it, I also like taking it for a spin around town. And I'm not gonna lie... It is flattering when people ooh and ahh over the stitching and leather
I would get the front end lift for sure. You'll scrape that lip non stop without. At this point I'm used to it and don't fuss over the damage any more. It really bothered me when I first got the car though. Seemed like it never stopped scraping, and I understand the speed/angle approach.
I say find one loaded with the good stuff. You'd hate to regret not getting something down the road. Took me 6 months to find my car used with the options I wanted in the color I wanted.

my friends always drool over the red stitching in mine. Definitely brings the interior to a different level. It was a must when i was buying.
The other day a lady was leaning over looking in, didnt speak english, but i got the idea she was pointing to the stitching in amazement.

I pretty much agree w/ the Deputy 100%. Unless you are a pro driver the few extra pounds of a few luxuries are not effecting your lap times or your enjoyment. Nore are DMEs reducing your times. As much as we all like to pretend they are racecars, they are street cars in reality. Might as well have some comfort...you'll drive it more.
The only thing I dissagree with is the front lift. I think its an impractical option. It takes a few seconds to lift and lower. Are you really going to stop in the street at the entrance to a parking lot or driveway and wait for it with people behind you?? You'll get rear-ended and your lip will be the least of your concerns. I see the opportunity to actually use it so limited that its pointless. Here in LA I scrape all over the place and would never be able to stop and push a button to lift the front at each instance.

I scrape in and out of my driveway. Even if I go slow and angle it. Although lately it has stopped scraping so maybe it self corrected I don't even look at the lip any more for fear of getting annoyed at its appearance and replacing it. Pointless....

I've had lowered cars for years and wonder if the GT3 is lower than what I am used to? If not I think I have that pegged because of practice. I am excited to get this car but the anticipation is killing me because I "installed" self inposed stops until I get things sorted out in prep of the car. In all honesty it is really killing me each time I look at DD GT3 RDs car!!!

I had the pleasure of driving that car a week or two ago and the car is insane! Very nice and straight owner too.
I ended up buying a white GT3, only because my previous Porsches were seal gray and slate gray and I wanted something very different this time.

I agree with the above posts about having a well optioned GT3 as it won't affect lap times. I optioned mine with Full leather, Blue-tooth and a few other goodies. No axle lift for me. It's too expensive. I rarely scrape and when I have it's been a non-issue.
I believe goodies like DEMs add to the precision of the car. Who cares if I'm any faster if the feeling of a well crated machine is slightly exaggerated due to the mounts.
Congrats on the new ride!!!

Right now to the next month or two is the best window to buy I think, as the prices may firm up a little as the weather gets warmer, and no new GT3's are released by the factory.
Happy hunting!

I think if you are going back and forth between the .1 and .2 GT3, there is less chance of regrets if you buy the newer model.

Thanks for the kind words fellas as always... to the OP, there's actually a red one at our local dealership (Carlsen - ask for Gary). It belonged to a local customer (super nice guy):

Thanks J. Hope you are enjoying it! Now you have 2 white piracies and I'm sure they look great next to each other. Perfect combo
