Replacing pads with pccb

At what point do you guys replace the pads on a 7.1 3 with pccb? I have read a lot of people are replacing at 50% but don't know what the translates into mm left.

So, at what mm left do you all replace?

Have a track weekend this weekend and trying to figure out if I should order pads just in case.

pad material matches thickness of backing plate - that is a good easy rule of thumb

I have pccb on my 997.1 turbo and they have been giving me problems. First, the hum noise on the turn, then it's the excruciating squeaks at at low speed.

The backing plate only looks like a couple mm's. So you are waiting until that far to replace?

Gotnem, have you tried to re bed them? That used to get rid of the noise on my old tt.

I meant as a minimum

most Pccb guys that I know go to 50% wear and swap

I removed my pccbs as I felt risk/reward was not worth it

I'll take to the dealer and have them check it out. The last time I took it to the dealer for the hum noise, they said it was normal. If they said it's normal again, I'll take the issue to PCA.

According to my measurements of a Porsche Motorsports P50 Green Pad, the original thickness of the pads were approximately 13mm. Therefore I swapped them out at 6-7mm. (These really nasty rivets would start show through the pads about that time as well!)

I forget what the stock OEM pads measured. Going from memory, I think they were around 11mm, but I'm not sure about it. It's been a long, long time since I ran stock PCCB pads.

Thanks for the replys. After reading here, talking to my dealer and reading rennlist, looks like it is safer to go ahead and replace.
