What's a newb to do to impress all my friends and 5-10 track events. I'm planning on hiding an additional 30k from wifey for mods and maintenance

Do I go gt3.2 or rs.1?

stretch a little for a .2RS, then you don't need to mod anything.

Buy the GT3. It's pretty freaking badass. And you won't stick out like a lime green ***** when you're driving on the streets...

x2

This is definitely one of my considerations in lieu of trading/selling my 997.1 GT3 for a 997.2 GT3 RS.

GT3 in any form. You won't look back. Except to wave at the Z06 fading away

I had never considered that.

Me, personally - I'd get the GT3 and spend the other $30k in track usage.

i do not think p-car has a big 'impress' factor in CA - you need to go with 430 scuderia or something for that.

as of on what to spend $100K with only 5 DE events per season in mind - I would not get gt3 but GTS instead.

if you want a real track car - look for used .2 rs cars some folks sell right now, there is some good market still available. but you may not like driving very low sitting rs or gt3 on a street, it really wants a trailer. just check you regular driving pattern and check what roads you use.

if you want to track - a smarter way to spend $100K is to buy a full enclosed trailer, a real prepped race car in $40K-$65K budget, a hauler to pull all that - and then enjoy it on a track with no fear to smash it or damage it. I saw 996 cup car for sale in $70K budget, look:
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...6-gt3-cup.html

_that_ definitely has an impress factor.

so, there are many options.
