996 gt3 vs 997 gt3
I currently have a 996tt with a bunch of mods and honestly I am getting tired of spending go fast $ on it. I am really on the fence about selling it and looking to pick up a gt3. Is a 997gt3 that much better then the 996? I'd plan on using the car pretty much daily+ track unlike now where I keep it garaged since it's always getting something done. I have found a few 07's in the 70's but I know also saw a 04 for around 50. I know I'm crazy but at the end of the day how much better is the 997 gt3 vs 996?

If you want to street drive it the 7 is MUCH BETTER.. for a track car the 6 Gt3 can be made to be just about as quick with proper gearing and setup.. If you are ONLY going to street drive the car you will be miserable without the low end TQ for the 996TT.. I enjoyed driving my tt 10x more than 997gt3 on the street.. you can use 8000rpm on the street but you can use TQ at 3500 all day every day..

Here in Canada, the price difference is quite substantial. I don't have a 3 yet, but was leaning towards the 996 because of the no aids and lower $$.
Obviously the 997 gt3 should be better with the years of revisions... but for the $$ difference, is it THAT much better?

Not only is the 997 a better daily since its more refined, but IMO it just looks much better then a 996 3. No offense 6 owners! I will own a 996 one of these days, but until I have the funds to have both 997 it is for me.

Hey Mooty, I see you have some extensive knowlege on the 3 from your posts.

the two cars are about same lap time.
7 is more comfy on street but not soft.

I hear you I'm turning 27.... I guess the first step is admitting you have a problem

I also noticed when taking both out.... the 6 was a bit more twitchy and nervous (felt like I had to manhadle her to get the best performance) and the 7 felt more planted and firm being less nervous at the limit.
I do however, like the fact the 6 has no aids
