Retrofit a backseat in a GT3?

Has anyone ever retrofitted a 997 GT3 with backseats? Is it possible? Any idea how much it would cost?

I'd like to move to a GT3 but need a backseat for limited trips with my wife and 7 year old daughter. I'd prefer to retrofit a GT3 instead of going to a Turbo if it's possible.

Any input would be appreciated.

You do know there is practically a park bench on the back of the car right?

Kidding

I'm sure there's a simple solution for the seating... its the safety restraint system I'd be most concerned about. To retrofit a seatbelt would always have me wondering.... what if.

The .1's do have the bolt holes and the .2's should as well but I cannot be sure. The RSS and GMG roll bars actually use these bolt locations for fitting.

In the rear they are under a "flap"....

This had been discussed on another forum. I considered it until the subject of insurance and liability was brought up. Apparently, the car is registered as a 2-seater under federal agencies. If something happened with more than two people in the car, there could be a $hitstorm of liability. Having recently witnessed my brother and his family get in an accident (no major injuries, thank God), I shudder to think what the consequences would be if the same happened in a car that was skirting a grey area with regards to passenger capacity.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. You mentioned the issue I had in the back of my head - safety and liability. Ultimately, I wouldn't put my daughter in any situation where she's not protected. My thinking was that a retrofit should be feasible though given that a 911 is a 911 (from the most fundamental standpoint).
If anyone knows how it can be done, who could do it, and what the projected costs would be, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again.

It was covered on RL. Someone did it to a .1 GT3 with a retrofit of panels from a "normal" 997.

It can be done on a 997.1 GT3 with parts (seats, seat belts, side panels and carpeting) from a 997.1 C2S for about $7K. As far as I know, it cannot be done on a 997.2 GT3.

PM me for details.

Good to know that it can be done. Rather than going through the hassle myself, can I just buy yours?

Buy some ear plugs and a cool suit. I would think that carpet gets a tad warm. Especially with a body snugged up against it.

If you want to give it a shot, I am taking all my rear seats out of a Carrera, and selling. I am putting in the delete seat carpet.
I have everything you need.
I also have pictures of the mounting points.
