1.9A1 motor for sure with 480 hp for GT3
2. PDK-S (he used this term twice) which has been tested with the 9A1 for over 4 years he claims.
3.Weight loss of 180-200 lbs through use of composites.
4.Aboslutely no hybrid tech.He said specifically it doesnt fit the GT3 motif.
5.Confirmed no more Gt1 (Mezger) block after GT3 RS LE (he confirmed 4.0 RSR motor).
6.Stressed the move of the motor forward essentially making the car a mid-engine car, even though Porsche will never call it one. He says this will make the car more balanced.
I wont say the guy's name but he is in a very high position within P-motorsport.

Good news for sure, if true. The demise of the Mezger engine has been previously documented by Porsche. The 9A1 is Porsche's engine of the future; near or long term remeins to be seen.
PDK was a given. Porsche has gone on record stating that a six speed will still be available.
PDK has is already proven itself on the 2010 and later (9A1) turbos and na C2s.
I'd like to see how they are going to shave 180-200 lbs from a GT3, or is it 200 lbs less than the 991 911S? The latter seems more plausible.
The engine a few inches forward does not make a mid-engine car. The 991 Carreras are already strongly rumored to be lengthened by that much to accomodate a larger cabin as well as improve handling.

This news has got me feeling iffy.
I know technology advances bringing fourth more cutting edge performance, however, I won't support PDK on and Porsche I use on the track. I respect what it can do, but 6spd manual is going the way of the dodo.
I'll have me some 996 GT3, 6spd, no aids..... pulling her by the hyde so I can get the results I need

It's sad to see though, manual transmissions being slowly phased out. PDK/DSG/Egear is for people that can't use their 'left foot'

I don't think a 991 C2 is two years out. I thought is was rumored to be debuted at Frankfurt in Sept. 2011. Sure a 991 gt3 is another 2 years away from that; 2 1/2 yrs total maybe 3 years out for the 3.

Maybe Porsche is also looking into use of Forged composites as a way of lightening up the car's chassis.

With more efficient engineering, lowering the weight by ~200 pounds should be doable without using exotic materials. The new Panamera is amazingly light for its size, but the body feels so solid.
