Question Just got a gt3rs green - tires ?

Just traded my cs4 for a 2007 gt3 rs green.
Wondering about these pilot sport cup tires on the car.
Like how many miles do they last , what about in the rain?

It wasn't by chance the one at Porsche North Houston? Was going to look at that one today and have been informed that its gone.

I have a set of the cups on my M3 right now and they are not as bad in the rain as many say. I've put about four thousand miles and three track days on them so far and they are holding up better than expected.

By the way, congrats on the purchase.

Do a search, there is a ton on information on here about MPSC and other alternatives. I'll give you cliff notes though. Don't last long, awesome dry grip, not great in the wet, EXPENSIVE.

I had them on a previous Porsche 996TT. They lasted a year, with some track/autocross. I was a little nervous about taking them on longer road trips with the local Porsche Club but they never let me down. I would be VERY cautious about them in rain/water. I don't think I'd even recommend them in a rainy locale. As noted above they are $'s. So in my opinion in a nutshell fine for a not daily driven car that you like to drive aggressively or track from time-to-time and provided you can afford to replace (which you should be able to do having made it into the GT3RS class in the first place).

I do believe however if my car was only going to see road use, even aggressive road use only I'd go with another choice.....that is to say not a DOT "R" type tire.

MPSC...it all depends...if you get a good alignment with the correct amount of toe ten the tire will last longer.

If you are just using this car as a street car then Michelin PS2, Toyo Proxes1's, Pirelli P Zero's would be a better choice.

I changed my Cup tires at 6500 miles and everyone says that I did real well with them. (No track time) I now have the PS2 on the RS for street only.
