Best Mods for GT2?
What mods are worth doing to an 08 GT2? This is mostly a DD with occasional track usage. I haven't done any track events with it yet but am curious to see what others think of any changes they have made.

From what I hear a nuclear reactor provides the best bang for the buck if you can get used to controlling the extra boost.

not at all being condescending, but my recommendation is unless you are a well experienced track driver, invest in learning the car you have, it is a beast out of the box and chances are you arent even scraping its current capabilities. Unless, the mods are for looks, I think stock is pretty fierce for a GT2, that being said, a tune never hurts, lol.

I agree with you about the car being a monster but I do have a lot of driving skill. Had a 930 with mods that I tracked a lot and constantly take Skip Barber racing courses in formula cars, car control clinics etc.
My 930 was really scary but once you got the feel for throttle control, you could really do a lot with the car.
I plan on tracking the GT2 this year and may just leave it stock for now until I start to get bored with it.

Get some 18 track rims and slicks first What's ur budget like you can do a simple tune. Or do a 800 whp monster like I'm doing. With rsr suspension. Or even more hp!!!

I wouldn't do anything rather than wheels and some sticker. Changing body components is a wast.
for power:
you can start with ECU and nice exhaust system. ECU will totally awaken your engine and you will love the result.

invest in some DE to learn the car more and more. GT2 is really challenging in track so you should enjoy it.

Best mod is a new driver. So either sell it to me for $30k or take some lessons.
I like the first option. Enjoy your mega over-engineered super car and don't worry about the parts. Porsche engineers are good. You have an excellent car.

That bonnet is SICK! There is something about it over normal CF lid,, of course,, but that script really makes it, doesn't it!!! Who makes that,, or is it a decal?

I hear there are a couple of reactors going cheap in the Land of the Rising Sun.

First, change gear ratios!
4th, 5th and 6th! Nobody need to drive over 300 km/h and you won't find a track where you can reach those speeds. You will never use your 6th on almost every race track.
The gain in acceleration will be great.
Change intercoolers for the gt2 rs intercoolers.
Put gt2 rs (same as gt3 rs) light single mass flywheel with the pulley that come with it.
If money is no object, go for really light wheels, those oem 19" are super heavy.
Change the suspension linkage etc... Adjustments is important.
Money is no object, Akrapovic evolution racing exhaust (around 12 500$usd) but it's by far the best and it's state of the art (hand made and comparable to f1).
And to go with this, a good remaping from a good tuner.
Buy rs inside doors (save alot of weight with those ****ty speakers), take off that heavy subwoofer in the back also!
Many others mods, light weight racing battery, racing seats, those little flaps on the bumper like the rs 4.0 (give 190 kilos of downforce at 300 km/h), gt3 cup duck to cool front brakes etc...
Porsche motorsport parts are not that much expensive. Well it depend wich ones (cup transmission is like 70k).

Front wheels are 26 lbs, rear wheels are 31 lbs.
The best 19 inch forged wheels today get you to about 17 lbs front, 20 lbs rear That's a 9 lb per corner difference in unsprung weight up front, and 11 lb per corner rear. 40 lb total in unsprung weight.

We have set up a few dozen GT2's for track use for clients with various levels of skill.
We are also building a GT2 race car right now. ( check out 997tt/gt2 forum)

I advise my clients to do the following
Spend some time on track with the car first.
We generally do a basic corner balance , ride height reset and alignment
We also install one of our RSR or World Challenge roll bars and some harnesses.
Safety is important and should be the first thing you do.. Bad things happen way to easily on the track.
Once you are comfortable with the car I would recommend looking at additional suspension upgrades such as our World Challenge components.
Sway bars, dog bones, bump and toe steer kits, adjustable thrust arms etc.
Look at dampers and springs last... ( remember still a road car)
I would then look at another set of wheels in 18 or 19 with some dedicated track tires on them to take advantage of the suspension upgrades.
We make a very nice lightweight fully forged monoblock wheel in 18 and 19" fronts are 9 and rears are 12.. Our 18"s also clear all BBK kits
I would then do a upgrade to the LSD - GT2's are known for blowing up LSD units.
You can either buy a replacement or send in your diff to have it upgraded ( rebuilt)
Lastly I would consider some performance - engine upgrades
Software - GIAC has always been the leader and offers a very useable solution
An exhaust system like our WC-GT system saves weight over the Ti system improves performance and makes the car sound like it should.
I would then look at a set of intercoolers there are a few options on the market we also make one that works well and is race proven.
These upgrades will produce a car that is very capable on the track, yet very refined for the street and can be enjoyed every day. A refined vehicle and that is what the GMG World Challenge package is all about.
Race car performance refined for the street.
A race car for the street is no fun and not very enjoyable despite what others may tell you..
