Houston, we have a problem...

I've been club racing Ducatis, Suzukis and Kawi's for years. I bought my 997tt last year and immediately realized I needed training before taking they thing past 30%. Spent 3 days with the school in Barber, then spent some $$ upgrading the chasis with a TPC stage III suspension kit. If it hadn't been for my bike racing background, I may not have so readily understood that the car was so much more capable than me. They should tell everyone (ok, maybe not Webber when he picked up his GT2RS) that when the pick up the car, make them sign something that says "compared to the car I suck and need training before driving it as its designed"
anyway, that's my impression.

The pics brought a tear to my eye, but I don't have any compassion for the idiot that pushed the car before he was ready to do so.
His ins policy cancellation notice will be in the mail as soon as the claim is settled.

What is up with all the newer RS's crashing.....it must be a epidemic. Is it too much car for the owners? Or street racer want to be's....?
I know one thing, there is gonna be a bunch of cheaper used RS's out there very soon...sad
So much for that color combo being the Superman edition.....unless it found kryptonite.

You just need to respect these cars, plain and simple. Go learn the car on a track before you think you can rip around public streets and be safe. I learn so much about my GT3 by turning all the electronic aids off at the track and really testing the limit. Going spinning off of the track is no fun and it scares the sh*t out of you.... but you learn from it every time....

Wow. A "paint-to-sample" car turned into an insurance claim in a fraction of a second. I have actually had my own "oops" moments in new cars - wrecked a '78 Trans Am 2 weeks new to me at the age of 17, wrecked a '97M3 3 weeks new to me at the age of 28. I can't say I don't know the feeling....
The important thing was learning some kind of lesson - a cliche for sure but there is no better reason to go out and take some kind of high performance driving lessons or practice at a sanctioned event. Even for an experienced driver a new car, or change in suspension/power setup on a familiar car warrants some test time to help "learn" or "re-learn" his toy.

Wow, that's a crying shame. Sorry to see those photos. But at least the insurance will hopefully make it right. A good friend of mine had a mishap 6 months into his new 996 Turbo cab and totaled it. He is a good driver but he got 2 wheels off the pavement and scraped the entire side on the guard rails and did about $40K+ worth of damage to the car. The good news there was his insurance paid up almost 100% of his in price despite the 6 months depreciation and he was able to trade up to the 2007 997 GT3RS. This unfortunately is not a total loss so the owner will have to eat the depreciation and devaluation of having a damage history when he sells the car.

Hate to see something like this. Driver will get no diminished value since he/she caused the accident. DV will be a fortune on this car.
My wife was hit in the E350 I got for her, 100% other party's fault, diminished value of $15K and we have been offered 3k and only partial repair of the car.
