Cajundaddy is infamous around these parts
Google "spinal compression racing harness" for more info on the associated risks vs benefits. Or contact Schroth directly and ask them for recommendations. Again, ultimately you must decide which system is best suited for your driving. Having been in a triple rollover I can tell you that the 3 point belts worked as designed and I was able to grab the bottom of the steering wheel and duck down as the roof crushed in. It was an ugly wreck and I walked away without a scratch.

Below is an example of a common street car installation that does not meet Schroth requirements for a restraint system and would not pass tech at any of our events on the west coast.

Thanks for the info. I was also in a nasty roll-over a few years ago on the highway, and the DOT restraint system worked as advertised, and allowed me to walk away. I am sure there is an awesome knowledge base in the race car world. As a matter of fact, aviation has benefitted from some of the advances that took place on the race track, and vice versa.

Where I work there is a substantial Research and Development department mainly for helicopter aviation. I am going to ask those guys about 5 point harnesses in aircraft versus vehicles. It just makes me wonder, that's all. Keep in mind there are no helmet restraint systems in helo's either.

To keep the seat belt warning from going on when you use only the harness on the track, you can insert a dummy buckle piece into the factory seat belt receptacle. For example, see http://pkvista.com/TraqJunk/Index.html. You can get cheaper versions of the same type of thing on eBay (mostly from China).
LA Dismantlers is a good place to order the seat belt buckle inserts. I ordered mine today, and they said it is a fairly common request they get from folks setting up their Porsches for the track. They salvage them from Porsche seat belts that were activated in crashes, so the complete seat belt system is no longer usable. They are $25.

Good cheap source for a spare buckle to defeat selt belt warning when using harness at track is to buy a seat belt extender on ebay - they often are sold for as little as $6.99. Nearly always listed - measure the width of yours to order correct size - if I recall correctly it is 7/8". Just cut the extender belt off the buckle with a knife or scizzors.
