I think the car is done very well as a fairewell to the 997 chassis.

Why would they put the 4.0 in a cup car format. The whole point of this car is to resemble the GT3 997 look, but with more power. How does making it look like a street legal cup car pay homage to the 997? The fact that they squeezed out every centimeter of performance of the GT3 platform is a fitting end to the model....

Hopefully, yes I'll be getting one. Just waiting on Scott H at Hennessy to confirm their (and my) allocation. Hopefully will know early next week. Unfortunately one or both of the current cars will go . Know anyone who wants a 1-owner '02 Turbo with 10k miles or '07 GT3 with 3.6k ?

LOL. Luckily my dealer does not mark over sticker. Company policy. I paid sticker for my gt2rs.

My info is a couple of months old but dont a lot of dealerships still have gt3rs on the lot? Lets hope this comes to market quick. Might be some deals to be had particularly as we move threw summer.

anyone who buys either of bill's cars will get a car that looks like it came off the showroom floor. i have no idea how you only manage 1k miles per year on your cars. i did a mountain run and a track weekend and put on 800miles in 3 days. haha

Congrats Bill! In many ways I wish I was in your position

Seems like Porsche is really pulling out all the stops with these special editions of an almost out of date 997 body style. Is this VW's masters at work? I've never seen SOO many special editions.

Yes some of these the GT2RS and GT3 (this is the third edition BTW of the 997 RS) 4.0 seem desirable to me (pure sex), but the Speedster and the one with the double bubble roof are just Carrera S cars with the 408 HP motor. You don't even get the Metzger engine. It's being overdone IMO (especially if you bought a GT3 or RS since 2007) and the prices are just silly over the top as well. Yes there are plenty of people who will buy them, but it reeks of opportunism.

I'll take a used 07 RS with the sharkwerks 3.9 liter conversion for my $$. It proved it's 500HP against the 430 on supercars exposed.

I know a lot of people have expressed some disappointment with the aggressiveness and sarcasm about the never-ending string of 'special edition' models that Porsche is releasing, but I think this one is different: this one is special. Bottom-line is that the 4.0 is truly LIMITED. All of the other upgrades and weight savings can be found in any GT3, but the 4.0 engine and the related powertrain modifications are exclusive and critical to creating a special place in Porsche history. Time will tell the story for this car, but I think it's really got a bright future.

If I had the means for such a track-oriented car, I'd do my best to get in line. The TT and GT2RS are in a different league of fast, the NA, high-revving engine in the GT3s are so much more visceral and engaging.

I just hope to see one (and hear it) when they get to the dealer for delivery.
