Extended Warranty/Service Contract
My dealer recommended EasyCare for extended warranty/service.
Dealer had good things to say about EasyCare (obviously).
Any comments or experience feedback appreciated.
Thanks.

I had an EasyCare policy on my former 996TT. EasyCare was great and worked both with my independent shop as well as the Porsche dealer, for those rare occasions when I brought my car to the dealer. My policy was ~$3,500 for 4 years with a $100 deductible and I think EasyCare paid out over $20,000 in repairs. I sold my car and the policy was transferred to the buyer and about 6 months later there was some sort of a CAM failure and EasyCare replaced the engine for the buyer. Crazy. Car only had about 28,000 miles too. I would recommend and certainly purchase again for myself. They never denied a claim.

I just got EasyCare myself 2 months ago. TotalCare option. Two weeks ago I got a but puncture in one of my almost new rear MPSCs (997.1 GT3). Had it replaced with a new one including mount, balance and shipping with no issues. Deductible didn't apply to the tire replacement, so zero out of pocket for me. I would recommend it.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
MGR-GTS, bout how much was the EasyCare with total care, and what was the contract duration?
If I remember correctly, I was quoted just under $4k for 4 years (to be confirmed).
Thanks again.

Seems like EasyCare gives different rates all across the board. I called them about total coverage for my 2007 GT3 that has 15k miles and they told me as follows:
500 deductible- 5143
250 deductible- 6317
This was for 4 years/50k miles
They asked me on a follow up call if I thought it was high and I mentioned others getting better deals through them (based on what Ive seen in posts here on 6 speed) and yet they found that hard to believe. Also, paying it over the course of a year wasnt an option I was given either.

I just reviewed my contract. Here's the info:
Total Care Option. $250 deductible. 3 yrs/75,000 miles. '07 GT3 with 4,700 miles at signing (March 2011). Live in Phoenix, AZ (not sure if that matters). Cost: $4,201.
The 12 month financing is provided through EasyCare but the financing company is SIUPREM, Inc. I'll be glad to give you the contact info of my EasyCare rep if needed.

I have an extended warranty myself from a reputable company. I've read through the contract with a fine tooth comb many times, and everytime I read it, I'm still not 100% confident of the repairs covered. The contract says it covers mechanical failures but doesnt cover normal "wear and tear", listing about 30 or so items of exclusion. However, can't anything technically be considered wear and tear? So if you engine fails (or anything as a matter of fact), can that technically leave you paying for everything? Or is it a generally accepted term for stuff like tires, spark plugs, oil. etc

No problem. My easy care rep is Marc Pandolfi: MPandolfi@us.easycare.com
My contract started at the time of signing but I only signed it when my warranty was about to end. If you still have time left in your factory warranty you should probably wait until that one is about to end.

I too have heard good things about EasyCare. Rates will vary based on several factors: year/type of vehicle, mileage, in/out of factory warranty. As was mentioned, try to purchase the warranty right before the original warranty expires, the rates are typically much higher if you don't. In addition, at least in Houston, there are qualified independant shops that take EasyCare, so you'll have options outside the dealer as well. Lastly, these are transferable and refundable, should you need to go that route. Given how many people who purchase these cars look for CPO, etc...it's could help you down the road.
