GT3 R/RSR Front Crossmember onto 996 Turbo shell

As the title says, I am trying to fit full GT3 RSR (mostly 997) suspension onto my track 996 turbo shell.

The GT3 RSR front H frame or crossmember has 4 mounting holes at the rear but the turbo has only 2. Unless I am being totaly dumb (!), it appears the front lower chassis rails must be different on a GT3?? The front mounting points of the frame line up nicely.

Has anyone fitted these parts onto a 996 turbo / GT2 shell? Or confirm that indeed, the chassis mounting rails are different?

The options appear to be 1) Cut off the rear most mounting hole or 2) modify the chassis rail.......

TIA

Is your turbo an 01? If I remember correctly one of the updates Porsche did to the chassis in 2002 was the mentioned subframe mounting change, effective on all 911s not just the widebody Carrera 4S/turbo tub. If that's indeed the case, I would modify the rail on the car to accept the subframe.

That is great information - many thanks. My tub is a 2001.

What is still confusing me is the PET system catalogues, that I have access to, show a single bolt cross member for a 2005 996tt and also the 2005 996 GT3. All 997 diagrams show the 2 bolt mounting per side, including the RSR. So is it 997's that made the change?

Anyone got any pictures of the later chassis rail that fits the 2 bolt mounting? I am going to need to do this mod regardless.

Thanks.

I don't have one on the lift right now but I can check a 2002 for you when I get a chance. I'll report back, let me know if you find something sooner.

That said, if PET shows the difference going to the 997 chassis, that's probably the time for the switchover. Hmm.

Just checked a 2002 Carrera (which should have the same chassis updates as the rest of the line-up for model year 2002) and it has 4 mounting bolts in the rear indeed. I can upload a picture if you'd like for comparison. 2 mounting bolts on the rear of the front subframe per side.

Replied to your pm. Any pictures showing the actual chassis rail where these 2 bolts mount per side would be great. Many thanks indeed.

I didn't realize you'd need detail, I would've taken better pictures w/the cover off, I was just trying to confirm the mounting style w/this pic. I have another car to work on before I put the Carrera back on the lift, but I'll try to remember when I do.

Here's the pics:
