4.0 RS or 430 Scuderia?

On a lesser scale my father has an 06 430 F1 and i have an 08 C2 aero with some minor mods. Comparing apples to potatoes and its all about your personal preference. I don't like the F1, i'm old school and prefer 3 pedals. The sound of the F V8 is just mesmorizing. The ferrari garners too much attention for my liking, i'm afraid to take it anywhere, i'm too paranoid something will happen, but i take my porsche everywhere.
On another note, the F1 decided not to go into gear a few times and continues not to go in reverse and has been at Ferrari for over a month while they try to figure it out. First it was the pilot bearing which i argued was completely pointless to change, then it was the F1 pump which they changed and it still does it, now they're saying its the actuator but they're waiting to hear from italy. It has roughly 3500 miles on it. My Pcar has just under 27,000 miles, still shifts great and runs fine.
For me i'd take the 4.0RS because of the 3 pedals. However the Scud is just an animal in itself. To each their own.

Here's the problem with buying an RS 4.0 today. It's an amazing car but it's not that much better than the 3.8, and it's selling at a huge premium now because it's limited and the last 997.2 GT3. The Scud is also an amazing car, better sports car than the 458 IMO, and right now you can get one with really low miles for $100k less than the original list. I faced this decision myself and went with the lowest mileage Scud I could find. If you really want an RS 4.0, wait a year or so until the 991 RS hits the market. By then you should get a decent deal on one. And if you don't believe me, take a look at the current asking prices for the GT2 RS, compared to where they were a couple years ago.

I agree that the Porsche would be be a better track-day car. I have a modified GT3 that I use as a track day car and it's terrific. But these are limited production road cars, and on the road the differences between the 3.8 and the 4.0 are barely perceptible, the main advantage of the 4.0 being more mid-range torque. My point is that the 4.0 is presently overpriced on the secondary market - in the US it's about $100K more than a comparable 3.8. If you really want a street legal track day car, buy an RS 3.8 with race seats and a half cage. For about $15-20K you can have it fitted with Motons and tweaked to about 480hp. That would be a better (and much less expensive) track day car than an RS 4.0.

Sorry - I had a 3.8 - even with Akro and tune, it is nowhere close to the 4.0 - the 4.0 really is transformationally different - I race a 997 RSR so maybe I am a bit finicky, but the 4.0 is not the same car - suspension, engine, drivetrain - not night and day, but damn close. Coming from a 3.8 I thought that was the be-all end-all, but..... 4.0...... Wow
I also have a Scuderia - totally different cars (which is why I have both) .... can't go wrong with either
