GT3 n/a power enhancements
Has anyone done any N/A power enhancements to their GT3's? There seems to be a growing number of kits (modded ecu, filter, exhaust, header etc.) available but with fairly modest power improvements unless one goes with a displacement increase. Given the 30-40hp increase of the basic kits, I wonder if anyone thinks they are worthwhile as these gains are only in the 10% range which are typically not noticeable. I understand that greater improvements are realized through more track experience with the car and driver training (these would be first on my list) but I just wondered about the experience of those that have done power upgrades. Any feedback is appreciated.

If you wanted say 600hp, you could do this...

probably not what you have in mind...fun to think about what it would be like though...600hp in a GT3. Scary!!!

Seems kind of pointless, why unbalance a perfectly balanced car? I would stick with Exhaust, Air Filter, ECU and then reduce some unsprung weight.

What i would do to make the GT3 quicker is change the gearing and the flywheel...to the single mass. This will make it quicker...
the only other thing is to lose some weight but it's not cheap either.....exhaust and chip not realy worth the money in my opinion...unless you want to change the sound.

Exhaust and chip are worth the money, especially if you swaped out the cams and did some head work. Maybe raise the compressison a .5.

MTL20v,
Can you elaborate on the mods you mention? Who does this mod? Any documented results?
The previous point about the lightweight flywheel is seems like a good idea since the RS model has it. I hear the gear swap is very pricey, though sound in concept. If anyone has done this, please tell us about it.

Nice, but a bit more radical than I was thinking. One of the reasons I got the GT3 was that I thought I would not be too tempted to go mod crazy since it was not as easy to upgrade as the turbo cars. Its a sickness. Maybe later though.....

I did it for under $8k Can...that's start to finish..re & re, shipping, everything.. with the single mass flywheel. Changed 3-5 gear.
You have to try to hear the single mass and the gears...the AP rotors i have make way more noise.
It's a little cool out and the car feels like a rocket.
I geared it to work at my local track....there is a little planning involved...you have to know what you want.
I am happy i did it.
If you need a little help with gearing let me know.

Having modded a few dozen cars that were my own, I really think Intake, exhaust, header, chip on a N/A car is pointless. a 30-40hp difference is not very noticable on a 380hp car. How much are these systems, 10k? for something you can barely feel?? Is it noticable, yes, but most of the time its more in your head. Is it a night and day difference, absolutely not. I would rather put the 10k towards lightweight wheels, better suspension, brakes, tires or track events. JMO.
