07 GT3 (12k mi) or 08 GT3RS (39k mi)

07 GT3 (12k mi) or 08 GT3RS (39k mi)
As the title says, I have the option of either a 07 GT3 with 12k mi or an
08 GT3 RS with 39k mi for basically the same price. Both have ceramic
brakes and Sport crono. The GT3 has a few more bells and whistles but
no warranty remaining while the RS has 3 mos of warranty left.
The GT3 is white and the GT3 RS is all black. Decisions, decisions.

I think I would go with the GT3 with lower miles and the bells and whistles. I will invite a lot of criticism by saying that the 39K miles is getting long in the tooth for an RS, unless you know it was pampered. I know if I had an RS it would not have an easy 39K miles on it! And that brings up a good point. If all 12K miles of the GT3 were spent at the track getting it on vs 39K on the RS tooling around, then that could be a difference maker. How are the histories on these two cars? Are they documented? Can you get a feel as to how they were taken care of and driven? I don't mind a car that has been tracked as long as it was taken care of and well maintained. If it lived its entire life at the track, then I might think twice. Another thing to consider is the brakes. Those brakes are not cheap to replace. Make sure you get the obligatory PPI and DME to know what you are getting into. That may be the biggest differentiator in the two cars is knowing the results of those inspections/tests.
Good luck with it. Some of the most fun of having these cars is hunting for the right one! Patience is key to actually landing the right one. Post some links to the pictures of the cars if you have a moment.

As long as you do the LWF in the GT3 it's pretty much the same thing except for the color/body. Lower mileage doesn't necessarily mean it's been treated better but even with 39k on the RS it'll be a-ok

I'd take the GT3, because you could put another 10k miles on it without a huge hit in resale. An RS is more of a collectors car. As someone noted, there isn't much difference in the drive. It's about knowing you have an 'RS'. As such, they're harder to move with high miles.

Thanks guys. The GT3 (12k miles) is a three owner car and has a DME report that is
clean, also clean carfax.
The RS is a one owner car with yearly maintenance and a clean carfax. Still trying to
get the maintaining dealer to call me back for more info.
Interesting thing is that the GT3 is going to be slightly more than the RS.

Well the wife likes the black, RS, but doesn't like the "surfboard" on the deck
lid and doesn't think I will be happy with a 39k mile car.
She doesn't care for white but likes the low miles and sunroof.

easy fix nowadays

She is "only" a passenger. I kind of like the "surf board" thingy on the RS,
and the shapely *** is nice also.

Depends on how long you intend to keep it and what kind of mileage you will put on it. Most importantly will you track the car ? Both are pretty similar in terms of lap times (MK2 RS speed vs GT3 is a different story...) but then value for collectors is not as important. There are so many white MK1 GT3 on the streets that I would go for the black RS for sure.

Went with the 07 GT3, fully loaded (sticker was 136K), 12k miles and new tires.
The guys at Exotic Classics worked a good deal for me. Should see the car
in a few weeks.
