If it only has 5 miles on the odo, then I would guess it hasn't been driven at all. I remember ordering a BMW years ago and being present as it literally came off the truck with the suspension blocks, wrappings, and everything still on it as it was dropped off at the dealership. That thing STILL had 8 miles on it.

Yes, the GT3 still has the juvenile wing, but I can't justify spending $24k more for the TT just to get a more sedate looking wing. I don't have a nagging nor jealous wife to contend with, so the high wing should be OK.

Furthermore, the front fascia on the GT3 is the sexiest of all 911s, IMHO. The stock sound is to die for, and if I were to get a TT, I would want to change the exhaust immediately. Having said that, the price difference over the GT3 now becomes $30k+... As this thread has evolved, I've seemed to finally put my 1 year dilemma with the wing to rest - GT3 all the way, and I hope you do the same!
I agree on the wing with you. I think the 997.2 wing looks great, as does the 997.1 GT2. I can't stand the little lips on the turbo's from the 996 to today. Many people add the GT2 wings for a reason. Who cares if it increases the downforce a little bit, the GT2 like wings rock.

PCCB's are great for the street. Super long lasting and no brake dust issues. They aren't the brake of choice for serious track users. If you buy a slightly used and well-cared for GT3 with these, you are getting them at a bargain price vs. new option cost for them. Also the Adaptive Sport seats aren't the seats of choice for the track vs. the Sport Buckets, but many owners seem to like them better for street use and longer road trips.
I agree that the rear wing isn't a deal breaker when you get such a fine car as the GT3.
Personally, I like both the TT and GT3 but for different reasons. They are both great cars in their own ways. The RS is a great car too, but I wish it was available without the bold paint and decals- a bit too much for me.

Thanks evil panda and gt3kidd for the quotes. I found a silver new 2011 GT3 that has every conceivable option with a price of $144k, but the online price is $124k. I called back to confirm if I was dealing with the same car?... They said they're offering a $20k discount - I didn't even have to suggest it myself. Too bad it's silver and not black. Now I am really getting itchy!....
Where was the silver one? My local dealer has a 2010 Red with under 2K asking like 106. I drove the car and it's very nice. If interested, send an e-mail to the dealer principal Evan at evanc911@aol.com and tell him Dr. Jim with the Aston sent you.

Red Devil, here is the link for the new silver 2011 GT3:
http://www.loebermotors.com/web/new/Porsche-911-2011-Lincolnwood-Illinois/1140432/

Guys, I was hoping you could answer one more question:
If a new 2011 GT3 with 5 miles has been sitting in the showroom, and presuming it hasn't been driven, what kind of problems could I have? There is a car I found, but its lack of milage worries me.

Thanks

You sure that was a 144 car? Looking at it I'm at a loss to see how. Only thing I'd worry about is maybe flat-spotting on the tires. Otherwise, you know it wasn't pawed over...

Red Devil, the original window sticker shows $144k bec it has $24k+ in options like PCCB, Full Leather, Front lift, Sport Adaptive Seats, black rims, Sport Chrono, XM, Sound Pkg, Dynamic mts., etc... The car has been on the lot for exactly 1yr. They discounted the price by exactly $20k from 144,500 to 124,500. Times ae tough!

I wouldn't worry about range 1 or a few range 2 over revs on any 997 series car. There are 6 ranges recorded on these car's as opposed to 996s in which there are only 2 ranges recorded, and the range 2 is for mechanical over rev on those. Durametric attributes only range 6 on a 997 as a mechanical over rev.

I'm basing my opinion on what I read on Durametric's tech support section of their website.

The car in the link has red calipers, usually indicative of the standard brakes. I didn't see any sticker and know without PCCB and some other big-ticket items I don't really see in the pictures, a car would have a tough time making 144. I've been offered 17K off a high MSRP car I like but need to move my Aston first...

Red Devil, you're absolutely right. I had called Jeff, the manager. The car I was referring to is stock # XX1071. Since I am not into silver, I didn't look at it too closely other the fact that I wanted to establish a baseline for a price point.

I see that you are in Boston. I live in the western suburbs of Boston. I hope you don't intend to drive downtown in the city. The crap roads in the city will punish you and the car.

I don't have a lift system on my car and I just live with scraping of the lower front lip. It's a relatively cheap part (about $200 IIRC) and it takes just 5 minutes to replace it yourself. Still, you want to take speed bumps and steep driveway entrances very slowly.

As others have already said, don't worry about a car that's been tracked. Mine is a dual use street/track car. The GT3 can take a LOT of hard use. Just check the rotors and pads to be sure they're still good. And do the DME scan for sure.

FWIW I've had good experiences dealing with Porsche of Nashua (NH).

I wouldn't worry about the mileage and car sitting. I leave my cars sitting for sometimes over a year and never have experienced an issue due to this length of storage except for weak batteries. Batteries that sit and slowly discharge drop their lead into the bottom of the battery and short the plates out leaving them crippled. Have the dealer give you a battery replacement with the deal and call it good. Have fun with the new toy.

So they have another silver on as stock # XX1071? If so, send me any info b/c silver is one of my choices. TY

Thank you jakegt3 and Bodybag for the advice and encouraging info. Jake, I live just west of the city too. No plans to take the girlfriend downtown with our roads!

Red devil, I have tried, but I don't have enough points to respond by PM yet. I am too new.
