How much engine oil for 997.1 GT3?
Hi all I'm due for an oil change soon. How much engine oil is required for the 997.1 GT3? It's not stated in the manual.
I prefer to buy my own engine oil from outside rather than getting raped by the stealership.

9.5 quarts w/filter when drained hot, thoroughly and properly for 20 mins or more. The filter cavity should have the old oil sucked up with as turkey baster type tool. There is probably .2 of a quart there alone which if done properly will need the aforementioned 9.5 quarts for refill.

Because there is no dip stick, and excess oil is just as bad as insufficient oil, I usually measure what comes out of the oil drain in a pre marked container, and then replace what came out.

After draining as mentioned above, I put 9 -9.25 quarts in my .2 gt3 ~ which should be identical to the .1. After a complete warm up (idle only) I re-check the level. I usually need .25 of a quart if I went with 9.25 in the beginning. Be sure to drain old oil completely as stated above. Also once the drain plugs are removed, remove the filler cap to vent the crankcase. And, be sure to soak up all of that oil in the filter cavity; turkey baster is fabulous. The old, hot, oil will drain for a good 30 minutes. I once let in drain over night and another cup of oil came out.
I don't know your skill level. You could be a master mechanic for all I know, but be sure to have the proper wrench (27mm iirc) to hold the dry sump fixed bolt in place when loosening and tightening the drain plug. And, check the crush washers the dealer gives you. They are different sizes; one aluminum, one copper, again iirc. It sucks when one looks right but isn't. How do you think I know how much oil comes out overnight.
After all my babbling, I can say you are safe going with 9 quarts initially. You do not want to be below the min. mark even if only idling for a warm up. So, go with 9 and expect to have to fill .30-.50 after warm up. Warm up is done at idle. No revving, or driving at all until you are certain the level is above the min. mark.

Depends what your going to do. If your tracking it usually I put 8.5 qts then top it off to about 9 so it's it's not overfilled. I live in Cali so it gets really hot in the summer, so track days in the summer I tend to fill about 8.75 qts.
