I think that's just the metal flakes responding to the bright lights in the convention center.

Basalt is more reflective than plain black, so it can look a little lighter under some illumination conditions. It looks pretty deep at dusk.

I recently saw a Basalt Black 997 against my Black GT and I have to say the Basalt was absolutely beautiful, but it was a "little" grey looking.

Mike - I love that you got aggressive with Yellow -- For sure, the local authorities would have a field day with me with that color!!!

If I had the money to buy a CGT, it would surely be painted in basalt balck!

My CGT is Basalt Black and it is gorgeous. I love it. It really doesn't look gray - it just looks black until you get close and see the metal flake in it. I think the metal flake just adds more interest.

I would post pics, but it just looks black in pictures.

Btw, the paint job on the CGT is exceptional, with no orange peel. Any dark shiny color looks great on it.
