To ceramic or not to?

If you're more of a street guy the ceramics are easier to live with.
1) They don't squeal
2) They provide almost zero brake dust
Steel are opposite in this regard..
If your a track rat it doesn't matter which car you get as you'll be replacing the stock rotors eventually anyway due to wear. There are plenty of PCCB replacement rotors that are steel that perform and last longer than the stock steel rotors.
Since you're not a die hard track guy yet, i would go with the ceramics (or whichever car is optioned more to your tastes), and if you do become a track rat you'll have no problem switching to a setup more suited for the track.

My PCCB squeek once in a while, but they don't howl. Not sure what is up with yours if you have them. You may want to get them checked. Mine are in perfect shape.

I just want to recap what has been going on with the purchase of the GT3. I am purchasing a car from my dealer. They gave a great deal on the trade and on the car, so I couldn't pass. The car is a white 2010 GT3 with PCCB, Lift, All leather, Dynamic cornering lights, 3400 miles, XM radio, Nav, adjustable seats.
The car will be delivered this Wednesday, and can't wait to get my baby.
I chose this car over another that had the steel brakes. Your input made all the difference in the world. Thanks so much for all your helpful advice.

my steels only squeak when they are dirty, coming to a stop. never been an issue I concerned myself with noisewise.
the dust however, or rather the crap that shows up after you wash and dry your car is reason alone to go ceramics IMO. That rusty colored run off is a total pain with my black wheels.

If you are paying less than $2k for the PCCBs why not get them. They will likely always return at least 50% of that when you sell assuming no abuse of course. You have more options with PCCBs as well as less brake dust and weight ~rotating and unsprung.
I have irons (they are iron not steel, if anyone cares) on my gt3 and would never consider paying close to $9k for new PCCBs, but at 15-20% of that used, sure.
As far as seats go, consider your use. The buckets are the lightest, far lighter than the A.S.S. by about 65-70lbs and 25 or so lbs than the standard seats. Personally, I wouldn't want the A.S.S. For me either the standard sport seat or bucket. Can't go wrong either way. If you really need buckets buy them from Suncoast or a competitor. My very own dealer will match internet prices. There will always be a strong used market for them.

Depends
If you plan to track it a lot, go steel. If you plan to use road only, then lower brake dust (none) and better stopping power w pccb. But if u want to track, lot of posts on here by guys who do and most all have had bad pccb experience. I took the porche driving school in Birmingham and the instructors all there stated they co uld easily cause the pccbs to fail. So dependson ur intended use. I love mine, but wouldnt ever consider extended track use.

One car has the PCCB and the other has your regular red calipers. What do you guys think? My TTS at the moment has the ceramic and they are great, but not sure if I should pass on a deal that has the steele.
What do you guys think of adjustable seats compared to bucket seats?
Thanks guys in advance.[/QUOTE]

Uh if your brakes howl, uhhh, u got some essplaing to do Lucy.....i drive my car weekly, brake hard on back roads and they make no noise. My service guys all say if ur car sits, pccbs will squeak until you take the car out and stand on the brakes and then they clean up and get quiet.

But the problem is it squeals when it's hot, not the first 20-30 miles. Yes, it goes away when I brake hard at let say 60 mph.

PCCB Noise
Gotnem108: are you using aftermarket pads? I use stock pads and the PCCB on my '10 GT3 make no noise whether cold, hot, track, street. They are fantastic brakes (and so they should be for the $$$$), no fade on the track, very litle dust.

100% factory. Called pna they said that the noise is "by design" and I told them to go fck themselves. The latter was a joke. I learn to live with it. Hard brake once awhile.

I second that but there is an important point to consider with 100% ceramic street use. The consideration is that first braking on then street is crucialy important - an emergency. Always bare in mind that first time you brake especially with cold ceramics - bugger all happens for a second. So carfully with cold brakes. Once hot they are superb.
