Mahzari is infamous around these parts
Thank you for posting. Despite beating the 458 in 7 out of 9 sections, the hp and gearbox advantage of the Ferrari shows on the straight - an 11km/h difference!

That may be true, but the name of the game is how fast you get around the track. The GT3 4.0 won that battle by a 1/2 of a second. That being said, a half a second is only important if it's equal driving, but .5 of a second is easily overcome by a better driver. So I'd say they're both pretty awesome and potent cars and one may benefit over another depending on driving style of the person behind the wheel.

Porsche 991 Carrera S, 400HP
Hockenheim: 1:10,4 min.

Ferrari 458 Italia, 570HP

As if there was ever any doubt that Porsche > Ferrari

I wish I knew what most of that said. I'm a little leery of the new 991 beating the 458.

well, it beat the 458 on the small and tight Hockenheim course,
so it seems that the 991 is a cornering monster.
it didn`t beat the 458 on the NS tho, due to its several high speed passages.

I hear ya, I'm just leery. Big HP difference. Math doesn't work. Don't get me wrong, the Porsche is my choice.

Porsche is just defying the laws of physics again.

Being realistic, I doubt the 991 is faster, but the fact that it is underpowered, rear engine and entry level, and is even close is a huge accomplishment!
