do these really work? If cops see you traveling at a high rate of speed they dont need to prove it on a radar gun to give you a ticket do they? its all under their discression I thought?

Sorry for the late response, but you're mostly correct that a cop can give you a ticket if he thinks you're traveling at a high rate of speed, no matter if he got a reading on his radar or his lidar gun.

However, with the radar detector in the 9500ci, you should be able to slow down well before you even see the cop.

Laser, however, will only be detected when the cop is shooting you with his lidar gun; therefore you will be in his sight. From >1000ft looking through a lidar gun it will be difficult for a LEO (Law enforcement officer) to identify your speed visually. The goal here is to slow down, then shut off the laser shifters so that when the LEO gets your speed, you're following the limit.
