Would you trade TT for GT3?

In Chicago, I'd keep the Turbo unless I did 5+ track events a year. The 997.1 TT's handling and connection to the road was too manufactured for me. I think you will really enjoy the GT3 until someone tries to race you on the highway. But Chicago weather, roads and TRAFFIC will make the GT3 just meh IMO.

Have had both. I prefer the GT3. I do track days, but I can DD it very easily too. The suspension on my 997.2 GT3 is nicer/more compliant than the '09 Turbo I had.
GT3 exhaust note is much better too.

Has anyone done this, and if so, what are your thoughts? I found a thread for GT3 to TT conversions but not the other way around. I have a potential opportunity right now to trade in my TT for a GT3 but am very torn. I love the power of the TT, but love the nimbleness of the GT3. I'm thinking of modding the turbo for handling, but not sure how close I'll get to the GT3. Thoughts?

I love my turbo and couldn't part with it so I added a GT3RS. Very different cars and each delightful and amazing in their own way. The handling and driver involvement in the GT3RS is as close to a race car as you can get in a street legal car. You cam see why Evo magazine called the GT3RS Car of The Year the last two years. (3.8, 4.0). I drive both the turbo and the RS equally. Just very different drives. Love the explosiveness of the PDK turbo and the raw exhilarating connection you get in the GT3RS. Driving on twisty turns here in the hills near San Diego the steering is so precise you feel a part of the car. Accelerate out of a corner and hear that beautiful engine sound only a GT3 produces. The downforce generated and the confidence it provides the driver is truly incredible. The whole GT3 experience makes it clear why the 911 is so successful on the race track. Simply intoxicating! I've just convinced myself to take it for a drive!

I traded my TT for a GT3 and have no regrets other than not keeping both. I prefer the input of the GT3 better making the driver experience more fun. There are times I wish I had kept the TT. I did not have the room and I do not regret my decision in the end.

In talking with the salesman about recent Porsches at the 991 event, we both agreed that the GT3 feels "alive" at any speed. While quite capable, you still know what it is and feel it going 20 or 30 pulling normal G's. If you like this, then you won't mind what many (most) would consider negatives on the street. The Turbo, unmodded, is only really alive when on boost, and that can't happen much on the street. Having had several M-cars I know what you are saying. My M3, while down on power from my M5, felt more alive and I probably enjoyed it more for that reason.

Thanks, but I have a lead on a 2007 GT3 for a few grand more.!

Had a 996TT Ruf 550 and after I bought my 997.1 GT3 I never drove the TT and ended up selling it. If you can't live without the Turbo's torque then the TT is for you but if want a very visceral, connected driving experience the GT3 is the only way to go. I don't care what you do to the TT it will never match the driving experience of the GT3. I have a deposit on the 991 GT3.
All that being said I use the GT3 on weekends and the occasional track day. Not sure I would drive the GT3 as a daily driver especially in traffic. It all depends on your priorities.
