Would you trade TT for GT3?

Has anyone done this, and if so, what are your thoughts? I found a thread for GT3 to TT conversions but not the other way around. I have a potential opportunity right now to trade in my TT for a GT3 but am very torn. I love the power of the TT, but love the nimbleness of the GT3. I'm thinking of modding the turbo for handling, but not sure how close I'll get to the GT3. Thoughts?

Last year I traded a 2007 turbo for a 2011 GT3. I have never looked back. I tried to make the turbo a car it was not with exhaust and suspension upgrades, etc. Sure, I miss that turbo boost. Now I just shift more often to 8,000 rpm's, have more fun, feel and hear more excitement, and at the track-not even close. I am looking at dedicated track wheels and hoosiers. Never even a thought with the turbo.

I have a Modded 996 TT ..... Engine and clutch enhanced. The suspension set up. with coilovers ,Gt3 sway bar, and rear Toe links ,lowered to GT2 specs. The car is very, very capable on the track , stupid fast, and comfortable on street
I love it!!!

That said I couldn't bring my self to sell it for a GT3. So I bought
997.1 GT3 ( this is a sickness )
It is nice and has a different feel than the Turbo.

The Turbo still is more exciting to drive in my opinion.
I realize not every one can own both . If I only could have one it would be the TT.

It will be a street car with occasional use on the track. I know, that makes one say "you should get the turbo". However, I also want to have fun driving the car. I came from an M3, which was such a treat everytime I drove her. TT is fun also, but feels a little disconnected and I'm thinking it has a lot to do with the overall suspension. So I'm considering either suspensions mods or trade for GT3.

Keep your turbo.

Do coilovers, sway bars, GT3 control arms and other suspension bits coupled with wider tires.

Recipe for WINNING

I came from a TTS, and traded for a GT3 RS. If you are looking for a fun car to drive that makes you feel connected to the road, then buy yourself a GT3. I went for the GT3 and have never looked back.

GT3 is a joy to drive, I drive it when ever I can.

It sounds like you might enjoy a GT3 more then your TT

I don't believe you can answer this by defining the intended use. That is far too objective for something which is subjective. With that said, I may never track my .2 gt3 and much prefer it over my .1 turbo. A search will obviously reveal why most feel the same way.

Did I miss it...? What year/model is your TT?

There's a bit of difference going from say a stock 996TT (terrible IMHO without suspension mods) to a .2 GT3 as opposed from a .2 TTS to a GT3.

I think for largely street driving you can mod a turbo to make it much more connected. Never going to be a GT3 but certainly better than OEM. I sold my turbo because i could never really make it into a great track car. Thought of GT3 but landed in a Cayman that I prepped for H class racing. I know lots of guys that enjoy their GT3 on the street but most have modified and are spending more time/miles on track than street. GT3 for me wasn't that great of an option for club racing (need to go cup car route if that is the case). It is a very subjective question...for me, if I weren't planning on tracking alot, I would keep the turbo and upgrade the suspension a little. That boost is intoxicating.

Sorry, its a 997.1 TT. And the trade in is for a 997.2 GT3.

Thanks for the feedback gents. You have given me a lot to think about.

Agreed, this is a sickness

Happy to hear that you find the TT exciting after the suspension mods.
