GT3: 997.1 vs 997.2

Sort of in the same boat. Does warranty not come into play for you at all? I certainly wouldn't mind buying a 2010 and having a couple years of warranty. Or find a CPO car and have even longer. Just a thought.
Oh, and I guess this is my first post. Long time lurker.

I could have bought a CPO on mine but didn't, there weren't enough OEM parts left on it to cover, and the parts that would have been covered, are pretty robust. These are street legal race cars, and are built tough.

As another post mentioned earlier, besides the LSD, the GTs are pretty solid. I was surprised at the low cost to extend the warranty.

Lots of good info. Thanks.
OP - didn't mean to hijack your thread. I've just recently started looking at P-cars after driving a 2012 GTS. After that I looked at a 2010 GT3, fell in love/lust, and wonder about the .1 vs. the .2 like you are.
Would probably avoid the PCCB personally as this would be more of a street car for me (I know....that's a whole other discussion) and I wouldn't want to pay the $10k plus down the road to replace them.
I think one benefit of the .2 is the axle lift option if you can find it.
Good luck with your decision. I don't think you can make a bad one here!

The PCCB's are better for the street, no dust, very little wear, and the rotor will last a long time. The track will eat them up very quickly, mine had them and the previous owner replaced then with 2 piece iron rotors.

as if the .2's only advantage is 15hp!
The $20k delta for a .2 is a bargain when you take the time to realize what the .2 has over the .1.
DEMs are easily retro-fitted into non-factory spec'd .2s, so replacement cost would be minimal. That should not even be a concern.
Summary: .2 gt3 any day of the week even considering the extra dough.

I will start listing some things and you tell me what they are worth to you in terms of $ (my added value thougts)
centerlocks (-$2000)
no sunroof (+2500)
3.8 vs 3.6 ($7500)
identical gearing (0)
same lousy diff (0)
same lousy coolant fittings (0)
I would pay the up to $10K more for a 3.8 with some warranty left... no way I pay 20K or more for the "upgrade"

For the OP, its a new purchase to him either way, so the current delta is probably around 30k for a .1 vs .2 and 65k for a .1 vs .2 RS.

lay it on us... what does it have that makes it worth $20-30K more?
