If you drive it to work and play at on, off ramps... hum not so much.
For most that don't use the car to it's purpose, yes a .1 is cheaper and make more sense.
For those who will drive it, stick to the .2
Better aero
engine
no sunroof
suspension (no not just shocks and springs)
brakes
and stupid center locks
Agreed! Add DEMs, modestly improved interior and a 3 year newer car to that list!

Great input everyone!

It is a matter of how we all decide to blow our money on any of these cars.
RMS is still a problem with 3.8gt3/rs

PJ's car is not a regular .1RS. it will eat up .2RS.
now what pj needs is a set of motons (motion control they are called now) and kill the PASM off.
btw, i am not moody. i am mooTy, as in moots titanium bicycles.

BTW center lock on all the 3.8 and 4.0 are POS. they suck. all the real drivers want 5 bolts/lugs.
or convert to cup car center lock. the street car CL are VERY different than those on cup cars.
they SUCK, you use it a few times, you will understand.
now i drive 40 min to my mechanic to have him take wheels off, i used to work on my own car. that' s how much pain they are.

Which coincidentally was right before moton was bought out by AST

The .2 GT3 looks better and way more modern. The shape of the rear tail lights and LED's makes the .2 look dramatically better, not to mention the spoiler.

It would take 15k in mods alone to make a .1 look like a .2. PCM is also better in the .2 If you can afford it then get a .2, if not then the .1 is a great car. I would just get the car your really want.

First i drove 08 turbo - I hated the turbo lag. Got out of the car in 10 minutes.
Next test drove 07 GT3RS - very fun - Did not like PASM.. felt like i was "skipping" cornering and just stiffened the shocks.

This weekend I will drive a 997.2 GT3 non rs. and 7.1 GT3 non rs. It will be interesting to compare them back to back.. Prices of these are coming down but dealers are still asking quiet a bit for either one esp here in Socal market.

It is intoxicating ride. My wife says that I could not wipe smile off my face and she knew I was in love

Just finished my 90 day search... Wanted a .2 RS model. When it was all done I went with the .1GT3RS since it was 40K less than the .2RS. Yes, YES, I know... I could have got a non RS model for less. SUNROOF was not something I was willing to accept. Plus I wanted the wider body.

Understand this entire post is based on the difference of the .2 over the gen 1 version of the GT3. There is just as much price difference on the RS over the stock GT3. Certainly there is absolutely NO additional performance value in the RS model. But I still spent more to get the RS without the sunroof and the fat ***.

Came with CPO, GMG exhaust Bypass, WEVO mounts and only 7K miles... Almost couldn't give my 03 TT away quick enough...

And yes, I spent to much on it, but I can tell you every time I found a clean, low miles example, it was gone in days...

There seems to be a strong demand for clean .1RS examples.. Buyers up in Columbus is asking 140K for a 07 RS... I told him he was in sane but who knows. It only has 600 miles on it.

Info

Here is a nice little PR article from Porsche on the 07. I am sure they have others on the .2 version.

My advice (and it's just my opinion)
Set a budget. For the car and whether it has (or needs) mods like GT2 or other race seats, 6 pt belts, roll bar, exhaust,
coolant fittings welded or pinned; centerlocks or convert to 5 lug
track insurance ?
coaching to have more fun and accelerate your progress on the track
if not tracking then question why a GT3?
When you have the list narrowed down then be ready to act and good luck on your decision/purschase. PPI/CPO, etc.

Sorted suspension - PASM sucks in both IMHO

Far better looks - in the eye of the beholder I suppose, subjective at least

RMS issue improved -- news to me

Heh... whatever floats your boat... one is a better value (as mooty said) and value is relative. If you have money to blow, then by all means go with the newer of the 2... or consider a .1 and spending the extra on making it a better car.

.1 with a SW 3.9 for example, or a BBI 4.0...

they are both fantastic cars and a bad decision cannot be made.

I paid more for a .1RS vs a .1GT3 and it is not a stretch to say that I paid a significant delta for nothing... but for me the value was there in widebody and no sunroof alone... FOR ME...

which is the better/reliable conversion? The Sharkwerks 3.9 or BBi's 4.0?

.2 gt3 is infinity better than the .1 gt3, far more than the $15-20k delta. the list goes well beyond 15hp. If you doubt that you have not driven both nor done your homework.
