Best engine oil? What are you using?

I hear MOTUL and REDLINE are some of the best (I don't know if this is true at all).*

I see top of the line cars like Ferraris and Porsche come with MOBIL1 so that has to mean something? Or just big money and marketing?

Any input? Motul? Redline? Royal Purple? Mobil1? Castrol?

I used to have a GT3 and have a Boss 302 now. Live in LA, CA so no cold weather. So curious to hear what you guys think and are using yourselves.

Mobil 1 is decent, but if you want that extra bit, Motul and Amsoil are the two best. Royal Purple is 100% marketing, I've seen too many guys with problems with their quality. Castrol is on about the same level as Mobil 1 IMO.

LN Engineering has a great deal of useful information on lubricants on their website. Here are a couple of good references. The first contains info specific to both air cooled and water cooled Porsche engines so just make sure what you're reading applies to your situation.
http://www.lnengineering.com/oil.html

LN Engineering points out that Mobil 1 has been reformulated during the past several years and has been significantly degraded. I am currently using Joe Gibbs Driven GT 40 which was made available earlier this year and has replaced Motul 300V as LN's preferred product.

Hope this helps.

Stay away from Redline. It's garbage.

Motul is the best. It's been tested over and over again. I use the Motul Xcess 5/40 since day 1 in the RS4 and as soon as I took possession of the Gt3, I switched it out to the Motul.

If you can afford the Motul V300, then go for it, otherwise, the Xcess is the best. Other great oils are the Lubromoly and Pentosin, but the Motul is the best.

Mobile 1. It is the recommended oil by the factory.

So now im trying to figure out what to do!

I also used MOTUL in my RS4 and I felt a difference!

DD GT3 RD, Castrol Syntec has 5w50. I used to use it in my 09 Carrera S.
