991S or 997.2 GT3: Help me decide

991S or 997.2 GT3: Help me decide
I am a member of the 997 board and have a 2009 C2S. Came over to the GT board and did several searches and found some great feedback on 991 vs GT3/RS, and have to say that all the 'love' given to the 3 makes me wonder if that is the way to go.
So, here's my pathetic dilemma; spend $120K on a new 991S or spend similar amount (or less) on a 997.2 GT3? Let me add some context. I have about 11,000 miles on my C2S, bought it new and it is not my DD. I do about 4 HPDE per year, and while the C2S (stock) is fine, I seem to gravitate to the look and sound of the GT3s at the track. Harsh ride smarsh ride, don't give a hoot about cushy.
I have driven the 991S 7 speed - a few times. The car is quieter, a little cushier, and has all the latest bells and whistles; 7-speed shifts smoother than the C2S. The sport exhaust sounded sweet, but not as good as a GT3 when opened up.
Of course, my P-dealer is wanting me to go ahead and order a new 991S, calling to have me come in and put the order in (no, duh), but I keep putting off going into the dealer to do it. My current ride is a beautiful car, I could invest some $20k to turn it into a track monster, but then I will lose some of the ride-ability if I do that (reads - wife won't want to get in the car anymore). So, instead of that, do I allow the allure of something shiny and new (991S) to tug my wallet, or move to the GT3.
Am I missing anything that I should consider when comparing the two cars? For example, higher cost to maintain a GT3 versus non GT car?
Appreciate your input so I can pull the trigger. Need to do it soon. The OCD is starting to wear on me.

I'd get the 997.2 GT3RS and never look back. IMO it's the complete package. You can find a low mileage sample for ~125.
I would also take a .2 GT3 over the new 991S, especially since this won't be your daily driver.
Even with all the new features and functionality I still love the way turbos and GT3s look comparatively...just my opinion.

If you only drive it at the track 4 times a year, go for the 991, probably will enjoy more.
I drive my RS a few times a month, I had serious car ADD, and now have the RS for a little over a year, nothing in the market I would trade my car for. (same price)
New 991S is a fast nice car. Probably as fast as a 997.2 GT3 at the track, with same tires.
Maybe less rewarding.
At the end of the day, it's your car, your money, your choice.
Drive both, and check pros and cons.

I have driven the 991 C2S, 997.1 and .2 GT3s, and owned a 997TT as well as a 997.2GT3 RS.
In my opinion, there is no comparison to the GT models if you're going after a rewarding driving experience. If you don't get a GT3/RS, I promise there will always be a part of you that wished you had gone the GT route. Try as you might with mods, you will never have the same feeling of a GT3.

I was in the same boat, but there's something special and unique about a GT model. I loved the .1 GT3, and I thought the .2 GT3 was a dream. I found a barely used '11 model with the options I wanted, and it came out to about the same as a 991 S coupe, which will depreciate even faster than the GT3. In a year, the 991 will look normal when the new GT3 and turbo models are released.
In terms of drive, the 991 will be more comfortable, and it has a much more luxurious interior, but you knew that.
For a weekend car and occasional track duty, I think the GT3 is a fantastic value. You could spend $105-112 on a very nice 11 GT3, or about $125K on a GT3RS. I drive my GT3 in the city, and around town (more than a weekend car, but less than a daily driver), and I think it drives fine. A PDK would make city driving in traffic a lot more palatable, but given that there's no PDK option on the GT3, that made my decision easy.
You'll have to drive both, consider how you'll use it, and how often, and go from there.
Good luck!

Get the GT3 whichever one you can afford. The more DD ones would be the mk2 versions. RS if you like the wide body and bigger wing. I just got a 2007 GT3, still have my c4S (for now) Seattle rain; have driven the 991 at PSDS in Alabama and Ridge on tracks at speed. Once you drive a "3" you wonder why you waited so long. It is a thrill driving my gt3 that the 991 in its current form doesn't give. Look at my post on my recent 2007 GT3 purchase. Test drive a 3, get a CPO as well as PPI on your .2 and have no regrets.

I agree with that point on the looks. Only way to come close is a C2S with aerokit cup, but still will not sit the same or have the venting and intake as GT car.

That's probably the #1 thing that is keeping me from pulling the trigger. The 'less rewarding' piece is something I don't want to look back on though. Moving more towards GT car.

I want something that will give a rewarding experience and be a bit raw. +1 on the mods, sure would hate to spend all the money and still not be happy with '09 C2S.

+1, if you are going to spend $120, do it on a GT3RS, it's a great value and it's going to depreciate slowly from here on out. It's not a daily driver so you don't need all the bells and whistles. The sound and looks of a GT3/RS can't be beat by a non GT car. For me it's an easy choice.
