2010 GT3 Recall
Porsche is recalling its high-performance 911 GT3 model over a rear wheel issue. The recall covers 455 911 GT3 models produced during the 2010 model year.
According to Porsche, 911 GT3 models produced between May 15, 2009, and February 11, 2010, may have been equipped with a faulty rear wheel hub. Porsche says the rear wheel hubs are prone to fail under certain driving conditions, and the German automaker also warns that “suggested maintenance intervals may be insufficient to prevent wheel hub failure.”
If the hub fails, the driver could lose control of the vehicle, increasing the likelihood of a crash.
Porsche will remedy the issue by swapping out the original hubs for a new design free of charge. The recall is scheduled to begin this month. Porsche said dealers will replace the wheel hubs free of charge. The company is also revising its service interval specifications and will give owners the new schedule. The recall is expected to begin this month. Owners may contact Porsche at 800-767-7243.

Here's a link to an article that basically says the same thing: http://www.leftlanenews.com/porsche-...eel-issue.html
Couple of questions on this:
- anyone know if this real or more Internet BS, couldn't find anything on the Porsche website hence asking
- the article talks about the year and model but seems only to provide a US number for calling Porsche, only apples to US models? Anyone talked to Porsche?

Recall only includes 2010 GT3 (narrow-body) as of right now... Revised Porsche maintenance schedule to replace hubs and bearings at various mileage intervals for tracked cars (at our costs
) going forward will probably apply to ALL centerlock-wheel equipped versions (GT3/RS, GTS, Turbo)...![Frown](https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

To be honest, I don't mess with them (wheels that is) even though I'm on a track quite a bit
. I let the Porsche dealer handle this. They've been trouble-free for me. I'm very happy with the Michelin Cups that are OEM on the car so I don't have the need to change wheels/tires (and I live in CA with very little rain except winter when I don't drive anyway).
If you plan to change wheels/tires then you'd have to get the "braker bar" to hold the front wheels, "breaker bar" and torque wrench too loosen and tighten the wheels (and another person to help if you're of "slight" frame
) AND a good lift because all of the above will have to be done with the car off the ground.
There are some great threads and DIY's on Rennlist if you're interested.
Hope this helps.

Confirmation from my dealer, this also affects non-US / Canadian cars also. I've got mine booked in for a check soon. Great that Porsche NA puts out a press release and seems to be proactively reaching out to people, a shame that Porsche in Europe is not doing the same thing and that instead I had to ask...

One more time (for folks who don't like to read the WHOLE thread
). The recall is ONLY for the 2010 GT3 i.e. "narrow body" chassis, NOT for the RS (yet
). Now the revised MX schedule is another matter altogether...
