I called. The incident was that my mechanic told me that the problem had to be dealt with (pinned) before there is a catastrophic failure.

I wanted to let everyone know that I filed my complaint. I have been lurking here on the forum waiting to decide on how I would address the issue. I'm glad that the moderator added the link! I had the failure on 3/15/13 with under 24000 miles on the clock of my 2001 Turbo. We put the car on the lift and verified that indeed the coolant pipe separated and is leaking. I am not okay with this failure and I hope Porsche makes it better. I still don't know what the best way to repair. Thanks everyone

Porsche will not make it better unless forced to do so. They were banking on cars being out of warranty, which they are and if you had pre-emptively fixed the issue or fixed it any differently than it was done originally, you would void your warranty on that item...........

They have settled out of court a few center lock failures also and as far as I am concerned, they have truly lost the plot. They are more focused on Pecans, Mecans, and 991Panameras.

It hurts to think about it, but I really hope the NHTSA forces their hand on this one.

Roughly $20K profit per vehicle sold.

If they want continued loyalty, they need to fix this problem.

According to what I have read online this affects 2001-2007 models so yes it would include the 997.1.

So, it's ok for their track cars to have these upgraded units. But for their general public joe that normally does not check their out every day- it's ok to allow / sell them these half a-- designed / money saving units?

Cup car parts. They don't fit the street cars.

There is also someone who paid to have the stock parts machined for screw in fittings, but he claimed it to be cost prohibitive.

Complaint Filed

I just came across this thread this evening and am glad I did. i immediately filed my complaint as I had a coolant fitting blow off while on the highway about two years ago. All my fittings are now welded, but damn was it a pricey fix!
