tuned 991 gt3 estimate

if you can get from a 997 gt3 25 hp more with an ecu remap and catless exhaust , what about a 991 gt3 can you get 25 or even more myabe ?
475 +25 or 35 = 500 to 515 hp ?
really if porsche got 475 hp from that normally aspirated 3.8 dfi flat six , and a 991 turbo has only 520 hp I think tuners like softronic will get more than 600-620 only with an ecu remap ? I even think that the new pdk can hold more torque than the pdk found in the 997.2 turbo

what do you think ?

No onhas cracked the new 991 ECU encryption yet. So may not be any flashing for some time to come.

To be able squeeze another 5% out of the 991 GT3 would be an achievement itself. Unlike turbocharged engine tweaking the ECU & boost pressure can easily let you have another 10% or more power. To do that in a NA engine would be difficult. Enlarged the engine capacity to 4L but that would cost a bomb. Warranty is another issue you have to consider. IMHO, the best best way to improve the 991 GT3 is to improve the power to weight ratio by reducing weight. Fitting of titanium exhaust system (Akaprovic) - cat back & that would shave quite a fair bit of weight at the right place which is the back.

frayed is infamous around these parts
You want to talk about tuning a high strung, new motor that is underrated at 475 hp, and which revs to 9k rpm.

IMO, you should leave it alone and just drive the car. It's not like you'll make it subjectively faster even if you eek out a few ponies somewhere along the curve.

I agree. Gonna be tough to extract more power out of NA. CAI and some free-flowing/ weight savings exhaust options, possibly a future tune when it becomes available. Maybe .3 seconds off the 1/4 ?
Next extreme is a good diet for us 200+ pounders, lithium battery, some CF, rear seat delete, etc, and maybe another a tenth more.

IMHO, might as well take the loss and trade into a TT when available. Or have a 2nd car that produces numbers; like a Godzilla-build GTR.

If I were you I would rather wait for the more hardcore RS which should be unveiled in the not too distant future. It will definitely be a lighter car & Porsche will shave ever ounce of weight wherever possible. There is talk that it will use titanium exhaust system, lighter mass flywheel, light battery, headlights & so forth. Porsche will charge you more for less.

Totally agree! Buy a 991 GT3 and hone your driving skills and then trade it in for a 991 GT3RS!

Does anyone know if the 991 GT3 has a dual mass flywheel? I know a 997.2 GT3 has a dual mass flywheel while a 997.2 GT3RS has a single mass (much lighter) flywheel. Wonder if that is true for the 991s too?

I wouldn't know either if the 991 GT3 has dual or single mass flywheel. If it has dual mass then you rest assure the RS will have single mass. Single mass is lighter & gives faster throttle response I think. If you follow the development of the 997 GT3 - GT3 RS - GT3 RS4.0. There is always an improvement over the previous model. For marketing purposes Porsche will always keep some in the sleeves so to speak. In this way they sell more cars with different variations & performance improvements. If the 991 engine block can be bored to 4.0L & Porsche might just do the same & come up with a 991 GT3 RS4.0. That will be someway off for now possibly when the 991.2 is launched. The 991 model will have a life cycle of 7-8 year. Launched in 2011 & expect the 991.2 to be launched in 2015.

The current 991 PDK transmissions don't have a flywheel. It's reasonable to assume that the PDK-S in the 991 GT3 won't have a flywheel either.
