I know this was covered before -- but can someone tell me the approach angle for the cgt and anything else that might be useful to tell the engineer I'm going to pay to tell me what it would take to make my driveway CGT compatible.

I tried searching the archives but didn't find it.

 

This brings up a sad subject for us around here.

i took this picture while i was at the factory during the CGT presentation. i'd say those numbers are a bit too optimistic, but at least give u an idea what to do next.

 

Thanks -- I did read the early posts but couldn't tell if anyone ever came to a conclusion about porsche's numbers. My house has a driveway from h$ll. My guess is I'm right around 10 degrees when I come at it from nearly 45-60 degrees! Straight on --- almost all cars scrape.

 

can u post a pic of the driveway? we should discuss it more as i'm facing possibly same problem. i think i can make it but very tough indeed. A430v recently picked up his GT although the front cleared the driveway but due to long wheel base the carbon undertray is actually where it hits. be aware of that as well.

 

Will try to take one in the next couple of days. I have the worst situation I've seen. A cul de sac that slopes down towards the edges which the really drops off for a few inches for drainage before hitting the wall that is my driveway. If it weren't for being able to angle my approach I would have to drive a tank to work

Call me crazy, but something really disturbs me about taking a painstakingly engineered 1/2-million-buck machine and just jacking it up 10mm like it's some kinda Jeep. It was designed as is for many very good reasons. What's lost in terms of handling, etc. with such a mod? I for one sure as hell wouldn't choose that solution.

Ben couldn't enter my driveway because of the small rounded curb in front. The distance between the CGT front and rear wheels may also be a problem, especially for short rises or drop-offs. Remember, the foundation is a racing prototype with a consumer cover. The prototype foundation wasn't desiged for the street. Even the consumer cover has a few problems with flying debris since the front wheels are basically exposed to the vehicle and occupants.

 

If you tell me what you want to measure, I will measure it on my car. I'm not sure what points they use for the "approach angle". PM me so I don't miss it.

Also, I have had better luck backing my CGT into my garage over the front drain swale - it barely scrapes that way.
