How long a wait for a new GT3

If I place an order in today, what kind of wait am I looking at. Should I be calling every dealer in an ever expanding radius looking for the best delivery date. Thanks for any advice. Chuck D. aka swivelhi

I was told 12-18 months. I personally think that's beyond ridiculous and I blame Porsche for making limited production.

Call every dealer, you may get lucky. But the fastest way to get it is probably to wait for early flippers in the spring.

First you have to find a dealer with an open allocation, which are very difficult to find right now.

My order went in three weeks ago, and I'm looking at a late summer 2014 delivery.

I was told by Prosche dealer in Taiwan that the delivery of first production lot of 991GT3 is delay for 12 weeks because of revision of its rear wheel steering. Has anyone heard about that in US?

I put my deposit down in July at one dealership and I am expecting to get a car allocated in March/April in 2014 time frame based on the input from that dealer. If you want to buy one, I know Walters Porsche (Riverside CA.), ask for Bob McDonald, have two cars for delivery in Dec and Jan. which were unallocated as of two weeks ago when I spoke to him. However, they loaded them up with features ($160-168K) and they are looking for a premium on top of the fully loaded car price. If you can't wait, it is an option.

My dealer wants $50 K over and no date as of yet. I paid $10K 5 years ago.

Any official Porsche dealer who wants a premium on the car should be named and shamed and I for one would not buy any car from them! It's plain profiteering and is tinged with unethical practices.

On the other hand, I know most dealers (including mine) are selling at list and are honoring their customer order list. Kudos to them! They'll get my business regardless of the wait.

I provided deposit in March, and expect delivery in Feb. Apparently, #2 on the list. We'll see.

What's wrong with asking what the market will bear? No one complains about a discount. Also, in the Internet age it's easy to take your money elsewhere.

I would never pay a premium over the normal price. I agree with Haku - it's unethical. The new 991 GT3 very well equiped would come in around $150k.

Any dealer trying to squeeze an extra $50k (!!!) out of that won't be getting my business ...

I heard they are offering a free GT3 as an incentive to buy a 918 and this is causing a GT3 backlog. Kind of like a 16% discount to increase 918 sales. I heard this from a friend of mine who wanted to order a GT3. Both are out of my price range so I'll stick with my 2012 997 S cab for now!

I guess anything is true on the internet.

There are no free GT3s to 918 buyers. 918 buyers have first pick of GT3 allocations. Buyers still pay MSRP or whatever deal they may strike.

This sh*t is funny...
