I own and have put over 6k miles on my current CGT and had over 6k on my previous one - Not a car for most people - when I heard about the accident, a few buddies asked generally what could cause that as the guy was a "race driver" - I had and have my theories and its not worth it to speculate on this forum - but there are people who drive race cars and there are race car drivers - and it always seems that the former do get in over their heads on and off the track whilst the latter only tend to go over the limits on the track (occasionally) where the landscape is designed for such things

Why would Geregos claim 55mph when it was obvious that the object mowing down the tree was decelerating from a much higher speed when it hit the tree?

perhaps the impact speed was slowed to 55 mph? And he is going to claim that any car built to go 200 mph should be able to withstand a 55 mph crash?? just thinking.....

That was the ONLY thing I was thinking... I don't see another logical perspective (based on what little information I have access to).

Matte Murder is infamous around these partsMatte Murder is infamous around these parts
It's the legal system, and the California legal system at that. It doesn't have to make sense or be logical. Just "these poor men were killed by this giant evil corporation" put to the average dull/normal juror equals big settlement. Porsche is going to pay big on this one. It's not right but it's going to happen.

The 55 mph allegation puts (rightly) the burden on PCNA to prove excessive speed....
