In the 1930s the Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union teams did not apply the traditional German white paint, and the bare sheets of metal gave rise to the term Silver Arrows. Porsche in the 1950s and 1960s also retained the silver colouring but later returning to white, although other German teams in the 1960s (such as BMW) returned to white paint. Other German manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and Audi (Auto Union) used silver paint when they returned to international racing in the 1990s. It is not known why the German teams in the 1930s did not apply white paint, although it's been said that it was due to the need to be under a weight limit.

White

Pretty sure all the CUP cars come white. Depends on the year. I know the .1RS in white is not very common whereas the regular GT3. 1 in white is not that rare. White seems to be a better sleeper than the Frog Green, orange, etc. I know you pay a premium for the White when new.

^ The .1 RS was not offered in white. The only colors it was offered in were orange, black, silver (GT, I believe) and green. Then as a result of high demand they (Porsche) began offering it Carrara White, but only as a Paint-To-Sample option which I think they raped, err charged customers $4000+ or maybe it was $7,000+... You gotta love Porsche marketing!

Yet the "regular" GT3 was offered in Carrara white for a zero cost option.

Black was the only no-color option. Silver is Arctic Silver (not GT). My .1RS is Arctic Silver. Orange and Green were like 3k options. White was like a 4k option. Crazy. So the only official colors were black, silver, green, orange. You could specify variances in the mirror and wing tip colors, along with stripe and wheels.

Swiss_Aussie is infamous around these parts
Personally I think it depends on the model you're getting. If you're getting a 991 then it's red for me first and white second. If you're looking at a 997 (and assuming you're not looking for a RS), then it's white and then maybe red....

I'm with you but with a twist. To me all GT3's should be white and lesser cars red or classic Porsche orange. Black is okay too I guess. It's really dependent on model and personal taste I guess.
