Why I most likely WILL buy one.

You have captured the essence of the car. I have not seen it better stated anywhere else on the boards.
BUT, what you stated is exactly why I am not a fan of the CGT. It is a hardecore racing car meant to be driven. So where do you drive and enjoy it? Certainly the track is the appropriate venue but on street and highways? That is where I have a problem especially if I am going to spend $500,000.
BTW thinking about it after the drive is very normal and believe me it wears off in a very short time. Ben called me often to go for rides with me driving and I passed.

Good post, man. If you can rationalize the pricetag, then I don't see why any Porsche enthusiast would be adverse to purchase such a vehicle.
It still boggles me how many members here actually are able to justify a car that retails at over twice what the average home in this country costs, though.

very true, but what you say applies to almost every car we all buy -- if we were justifying our purschases we'd all be waiting for the new honda civic with bated breath!!!!

It may not compare to many of the cars I have had the pleasure of driving, but it's mine, and I love it. It's no Porsche, but hell, I get to drive my Dad's 997 cab, I loved his '78 911 SC, and am looking forward to getting in to a Boxster S, unless I somehow manage to get in to a 911 or Cayman S of my own.
I raced back at college in an intercollegiate league and desperately want to get back in to it. Wheel to wheel ideally as against the clock, though fun, is a practice in memorization that often times lacks the extemperaneous thrill of wheel to wheel goodness.

Personally, I can imagine enjoying it on the streets, or when I am driving it at only 60 through sweeping canyon roads whose speed limits are 50. However, I have no problem with people who drive the car and say that "it doesn't do it" for them. I totally get your/their rationale.
I think every individal makes a cost/performance/usefulness judgement for themselves. Interestingly, a friend told me that (paraphase) before the CGT he wondered is the car going to be worth the added price over 200k cars? -- but now he thinks the CGT is worth every penny -- and thinks the 200k car is actually the expense that itsn't worth it.
A Ruf Rturbo, a stradle, lambo, slr.... each different -- and thank goodness so we all don't get bored!
Bottom line is what makes a CGT a poor choice of car for some is the same thing that makes it the perfect car for others. I do think I've read somethings that are gross misrepresentations of the car -- especially the clutch -- but who knows maybe there were a bad batch on early cars?
Oh, and one thing I will disagree on. I don't think the CGT 'feeling' will go away. I still remember my first 993 TT feeling -- and that never went away. Maybe it is like love -- every now and then you find a car that just does it for you.
But unless you have driven it (and I know many of you have) -- it is impossible to judge , I think

BTW, I have a lot of hours in the CGT. My impression; great track car but for public roads and streets it would be like tracking a Prius. Total waste of energy.
