991 GT3 or C7 Z06?

The Z06 looks much better than the Stingray which honesty I can not stomach. But the *** of both still look aweful out of place to the rest of the car. Price and performance the Z06 can not be beat. I am a PCAR guy but the 991 still has me scratching my head as well. I can not stand any of them except the GT3 or TurboS. PDK is growing on me - I hated it at first. I still hate the fact you can not get both trannys. I am waiting for the RS to come out and there supposedly is a Z06X which is more track oriented coming as well. Resale will still be in Porsches favor regardless. I did not want the new GT3 and do not want the new Vette as waiting a year is in better interest. I think will probably keep my old faithful low mileage Gen2 997 GT3 for a while and may add a 3.9 when my CPO is up in July....It has everything I need for the street

Well, I guess the myth that "nobody cross shops 911s and Corvettes" that we hear so much has been debunked based on several of the posts so far. In the end, both cars exceed the abilities of 99% of their drivers, both offer compelling packages and are very unique looking. Ultimately, it comes down to which makes you happier. To some, that may be price-dependent, to others based on interior fit and finish, exterior looks, etc. Suffice to say both will offer an incredible driving experience. Owners of either (and for some both) should be proud!

I am a vette guy from way back & currently in my 1st ever Porsche. After 8 DE events last season I can say the 991 is a track beast as I am sure is the new Vette. However, being an old fart myself, I can say the problem with the last several generations of the Vette is demographic--sweet spot being mostly old farts who would rather polish and shine than hit the track with Vette club track days are virtually non-existent, at least in my part of the country. Time will tell whether gen7 will change this but in the mean time, for me at least, the PCA tips the scales Porsche's way.

I'm pretty excited about the new Z06. From what Chevy posted, it should beat the 991 GT3 in every performance test, especially if it has the Z07 package. Plus it comes with a manual transmission and hopefully costs under six figures. Pretty impressive in my book. I also think it looks great. Realistically, the only thing the 991 GT3 has is maybe the fit and finish (I don't know because no one has seen the C7 Z06 yet) and maybe the transmission if you can't shift for yourself. Although I read that the 8 speed upshifts at full throttle faster than the PDK (I dont know if they were referring to the standard PDK or the GT3 unit but I honestly can't imagine any TC tranny shifting that fast). Decisions decisions.

That's like asking if you could get a GT3 for $100k v $300k which would you take? Sorry, dumb question. The correct question is C7Z06 plus a suitcase ($200k) of cash vs a GT3, which would you take?

He had the pre-pre-production-prototype.
Either that or a time machine, and he's come back to warn us.

Exactly how much do you think a GT3 costs?

Just about every post on here is making ficticious judgements on the C7 Z.
Nobody has one or any idea what it will really be like.
Its not much more than a press release at this point.
Although its as real as press releases get.
Now my ficticious judgememt,
from past tuning history its very safe to say the C7 Z will be putting down an easy 650 whp after a tune and bolt ons.
Thats 250 whp more than a GT3 right, and double the torque.
What car do you think will own the track?
The C7 Z is about true speed, and it will be real, not just on paper.
What I wonder is what P car is best able to challenge it, is a GT3 able to or do you need a Turbo S?
I'd still rather have a P car as I dont care about raw speed so much anymore.
If speed was my top priority the Z07 would be a no brainer for 20K over MSRP.
Yup, be ready for price gouging.

Hey, with respect let me clarify what you were saying about the new Z06. First it will be 650hp out the box from Bowling Green. After some after market stuff: headers, chip it will be north of 700hp (John Hennessy will probably be the first to tune it). Now your to your second point, yes it is marketed towards our GT3 but that definitely does not mean it will be better. Yes the horsepower is a plus but our car handles better, weighs less, and is set up with a cup car's basic suspension. Folks this is still a GT3 and remember PCNA Motorsports put this car together. No matter what is built there will always be a Porsche out there that will suck it's doors off. 458, F12, Huracan, Aventador, does not matter.
