CGT for $279,900
Check out www.autotrader.com for a CGT for $279,900 with some damage. If the carbon tub, engine, suspension and frame are undamaged, this could be a good buy for someone that owns or knows someone in a body shop.

I spoke to a body shop that repaired a few CGTs. Minor damage can be repaired pretty easy, even on split or heavily distorted carbon-fiber body panels. Apparently there is a procedure that uses carbon fiber in the repair process.
However, if you wish to replace the panels with new panels, that is very expensive, and could be nearly $100,000 just to replace four body panels.

I know you can weld carbon fibre. Yes, it sounds weird. I don't really know the details, or if the structure regains it's full rigidity.
Is the body of the GT part of the structure, i.e load bearing?

BTW, why wasn't the car repaired? It must have been insured. If so, then the only explanation is the car either was deemed totalled and as sold as is or insured took the money rather than repair it.
Just check and the insurance company took possession of the car. The owner must have pursuaded the insurance company to deem it as totalled. This leads me to believe the repair estimate must have been very high.

I believe that the rear-ended car to which you are referring (that accrued ~$125,000 in repair bills) was flown back to Germany for repairs. Of course, this statement is based on message forums on the web so you can take it with a grain of salt.

As a side note, the car was subsequently sold for $375,000. Based on the damage I saw and what it took to fix it, the subsequent buyer got a good deal. I believe the car had less than a 1000 miles.

No thanks... I rather order a new one from factory or buy one that hasn't been involved in an accident. First if you get a bodyshop to repair it you are really not sure what kind of work they can do... second the car is not worth as much after an accident especially it's a CGT... prices on a used CGT isn't that great right now and consider this one is a wrecked one... value will even drop more...
