Z06 vs CGT
Admittedly, the stats on the new Z06 are pretty amazing. For lbs per bph, it falls between the CGT and Merc SLR.
I'd love to hear some thoughts about how to come to terms with this < $70k car that bests most supercars.

Chimps and humans have 99% DNA in common too so how do you tell the difference?
Well, the Chimps are the ones driving the Corvettes with the gold chain on.
If you want to rationalize it ... a new Z06 is more a performance match for the stock 996 GT3 (and Chevy deserves credit for that) but for $30K extra you get aircraft quality, pure racing technology and German precision instead of a pile of plastic and modified truck parts.
In this performance league the more valid discussions are driver skills, track endurance and safety features NOT price ... unless of course you are a chimp.

Note, that I was being fair to our Corvette friends NOT wearing a gold chain.
Anyhow, I do think it's not so much what the car is priced at but what your life is worth!! You can be confident in a new Porsche that the only imperfection may be your driving but the same can not be said for a Chevy or a FORD or a Hyundai.... Doesn't FORD stand for Fix Or Repair Daily? Not a good idea in a 200MPH car.

[rant]although, I know im getting into the wrong debate on the wrong board here, I know some of you guys are just poking fun, but some (few) of you are completly serious with trying to cut the Z down to somthing that its not. sure its not a CGT in exclusivit tech. and all that stuff. it never claimed to be. Its a cheap (relativly) car that has sacrificed interior wood/CF etc in order to keep costs down, while still being bale to have supercar LIKE performance. The engine is a true marval and is very high tech (although not new tech).
alhough im sure some of you guys will test drive them and just be thinking, oh wow its a vorvette. wheres my chain? that steriotype really is dumb. that was somthing you could see in the 80's...and if im not mistaken. EVERYONE wore golf chains. . Im sure someone could speak up to you guys/gals that your just lawyers who are ambulance chasers, or the ******* doctor who really didnt need to stick those fingers in ....off topic. Im sure I will be flamed, it just pisses me off everytime a cheaper car with better performace comes up for debate you guys go straight for what it lacks. im sure if this was a corvette board and the two were compared, the vette guys would be saying well the pcar is over priced and excessive. I want to lay tire strips and go around the track fastest for the least ammmount of money. My rant is going ful circle here, so I think im gonna stop.
point being: the new Z0 is one hell of a car for the money, no matter what kinda crappy steering wheel they choose (see i can poke fun as well). hard call. i'm waiting to see how good it is & maybe trade the GT in. nothing is better than getting money back from dealer while u get to take a new car home!
