991 GT3RS might have a manual transmission
Looks like the RS might have an actual manual transmission! Sounds like Porsche might be turning around and listening to customers who want a sports car with a sports car transmission! Hopefully theres some truth to this rumor.

Porsche’s 911 Turbo and Turbo S models are monsters, in a good way, but we’ve typically preferred the purist approach of the naturally aspirated GT3 models. And the current GT3 is no exception; it’s the most desirable 911 on the market. That’s likely to change soon, however. According to Auto Express, development of the über-GT3, the GT3 RS, is under development and being lapped at the Nürburgring by rally legend Walter Röhrl.
The Brits go on to say that the RS will use a newly developed aero package that will utilize complex canards affixed to the car’s front end, yielding a 50 percent increase in downforce versus the standard car. Specially developed tires will reside within further-flared-out fenders hinting at the car’s widened track. The GT3′s 3.8-liter flat-six should get a higher rev ceiling for the RS application, pushing output slightly higher than 475 horsepower.
Auto Express also reports that the GT3 RS will be offered exclusively with Porsche’s PDK seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. We’ve been told, however, that the Stuttgart-based sports-car maker is strongly considering making a manual transmission available. As the GT3′s sole transmission choice is the PDK, we’re hoping our sources are right and the hairiest of 911s can be stick-shifted.

These days 99% of the customers buy the with dualclutch trans if there is a choice between manual or automatic. ferrari stopped selling manual because noone bought it, same with lamborghini and now Porsche. Its the future and we have to deal with it. I for sure would like if the RS came with a manual but thats just not gonna happen.

Why your 2015 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, 2014 Audi SQ5 2014, Audi RS7 2014, Ferrari 458 Spider, 2014 Ferrari California 30, 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera S, 2011 Mercedes-Benz S550 Designo, 2011 Audi Q7 3.0 TDI S-Lin, 2011 Porsche 911 Speedster 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Balboni, Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe Drophead,2008 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster, 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. Probably dont have a manual transmissions in them, why is it so important for the gt3 to have one now that the Pdk are faster.

You're right about most of them. The only two with manuals are the 991 C2S and the 996 C4S.
I think it's important for Porsche to offer the manual in the GT3/RS because those are supposed to be the most driver-focused 911. So they should offer both transmissions to suit both types of drivers.

If you read all the interviews with Preuninger (991 GT3's design chief), he gets very adamant and defensive about the PDK, so I have a very hard time picturing him going back to the manual with the RS.
If it does happen though, I'll tell you what: Those RS 4.0 prices, which have seen such a huge run-up, should collapse.

A few of the cars on the list are not ever going to be on a track. A GT3 RS might.
Last time I looked, the Audi R8 was available with a manual.

A last ode to the the MT ? don't we all wish... - I would buy one in a heart beat! Porsche use to be unique and special that way (MT on their highest performing car), now by offering a very similar driving experience (paddles) they have just added themselves into the general mix of competitors.
I highly doubt this will happen.. only MT performer to keep coming out of VW will be the R8. Not sure how Audi keeps this going but I guess its the high #s they sell.

What's really strange is that most Germans drive vehicles with manuals if given a choice. I don't really care if the PDK is faster; give me a f'ing choice. It appears my last Turbo to own will be the 997.2.

There's a few reasons why I think they're wrong.
For one...there's no way they're going to rev the 3.8L any higher then it does in the current GT3. If anything, they're going to use a 4.0L...that's my theory.
Second...it's NOT going to be manual. Porsche isn't "listening" to customers. Companies like Porsche don't listen to what customers want, they make customers want what they're offering. I'm just being devil's advocate, but you said "sports car with a sports car transmission"....Porsche would say "what's more sports car then a proper paddle shifted manual?"
And to a certain extent I agree with Porsche in using the PDK only. Let's face it, the GT3 and the GT3RS are designed to be Porsche's road-going race cars. The car for weekend race enthusiasts and DE drivers. So as a company they see their responsibility as making the FASTEST possible enthusiast car they can. And whether anyone wants to admit it or not, PDK is simply faster then any manual will ever be. So in Porsche's mind, they've achieved their goal. I've driven the 991 GT3 (and I'm a die-hard manual lover)...and I will tell you this...you'll never want to use a shift lever again after you do.
