CGT or F40...which would you pick and why ?
I've always loved the F40, a must have vehicle for me....but they are about the same number as a CGT now, and I'm being pulled in both directions....
considered opinions would be appreciated !

For a collector that wants something very special, the F40 is a no brainer. It's also very fun to drive, although added miles will diminish its resale value.
For pure performance reasons, I would select the CGT. It perform much better than the F40 in every category (especially on the track). Mileage should not affect its resale as much as the F40, where people like perfect cars.

Like everyone said, F40 as a collector item and if you like no frills and light weight.
CGT for performance and practicality (warranty, electronic & safety advancements, drivability).
I'd opt for F40 myself provided I have a bunch of other sports cars for the street. It's a very special car that you just won't find anymore.

It all depends on what you want in a car.
Alexpappas owns both and he gave a description of the attributes of each car sometime ago I believe on this boeard.. If I recall he indicated the F40 was much more raw and visceral than the CGT. From that I extrapolated that the F40 was more electric in handling and brute speed.
However the CGT was more driveable on a daily basis and probably a better performer.
My choice would be the CGT as long as I was willing to gut out the financial beating in owning the car.

Ferrari produced 1311 F40's and Porsche will end up producing around 1,250, if your getting a car for its rarity, i would go for the F40 because the car is older, the cars will just get fewer and fewer. But if you want the everyday supercar you could never use an F40, the Carrera GT would be the way to go. I am a huge Ferrari fan, but my favoreit car is still the Porsche Carrera GT, therefore my choice is a bit baised.

I would and did buy the CGT, being able to drive the car is a big plus to me.
Recently I had the oppurtunity to take a good look at an F40 and wasn't impressed with the details. The car has terrible fit and finish and lacks even the most basic creature comforts. I have a dedicated race car so I don't want to suffer without the amenities on the road.
The one thing that the CGT has over most other supercars is the ability to remove the top, it transforms the car into something incredible!
