A Sneak Peek at the 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

That clip is taken from this longer video that features both the GT3RS and the GT4 - an editor just got a little careless (I guess you would classify it as "sloppy marketing" ).

The car is Smokin hot. I will let the technical guros debate its deficiencies but I will be willing to trade in my 997.2 for the upgrade. It looks like super fund. I just need the guy ahead of me to back out of his allocation.

Car looks amazing. But there's a couple things that really bother me...
1. 25 more HP? Really? Brand new engine, and they only brought out 25 more hp?
2. No Carbon Ceramic brakes from Factory. Yea, I know they are an option... A 10,000$ option. Well why wouldn't they just add that 10,000$ and release the car with them? This is a GT3 RS... It has a Roll bar, it's a track car, and no ceramic brakes...
The Turbo S comes with ceramic... The GT2 and GT2RS came with ceramic...

Adding in all the goodies brought me up to $207K+ on the configurator. My 996TT and 997TT also had $30K+ in options (each). Personally, I think a 991 GT3RS is marginally worth it at MSRP. Yes it should be a fantastic car BUT at that price it SHOULD be a great car. IMHO if there is dealer markup the desirability becomes much smaller. Assuming you can get an allocation, if the dealer markup is $40K is it worth $247K for a well optioned 991 GT3RS ? IMHO the answer is a resounding NO and I will simply pass on it. Ferrari 488GTB allocations will be tight BUT all US dealers will sell them to you at MSRP (no dealer markup assuming you purchase same new). As an existing Ferrari customer, I would rather spend in the mid-high 2's (probably around $275K) on a lightly optioned 2016 488GTB then pay any dealer markup on a GT3RS. Guess I will know soon enough as to whether I get my allocation (and whether dealer will sell her at MSRP or lose me as a customer with a "demanded" dealer markup).

I don't think they will give the gt4 a PDK box as I think it would bring it way to close to the gt3 and possibly equal it ...conservative 385bhp (probably underestimated) from a detuned 3.8 and a tuned 3.8 kicking out 475bhp..lighter and mid engined I think the gt4 with a PDK box would be well and truly on the pace of the gt3 on track... Be very interesting when they go head to head !! I'm sure the press will favour the GT4...all that said I'm still hoping for UK allocation for my Gt3 RS....now what would you do if they did announce gt4 with PDK??
