Considering a GT3

Considering a GT3
I apologize but I have a few basic questions. I don't have the opportunity to drive a GT3 first.
1. Does it really matter that it's a 2014 and the engine was replaced? Why is the title "branded" and what are the long term implications? I understand the warranty is extended a bit? Is it a comprehensive warranty or just the engine part?
2. The car would become my DD. Are the pilot sport cups reasonable on wet rainy days?
3. Is the rear visibility impacted by the rear wing? Is backing out of a parking space a chore?
4. How long does it take for the lift to deploy? Is it practical for pulling into a gas station etc without a significant pile up of cars behind?
5. What can one expect for tire life if not tracked? Is it reasonable to replace tires with 991S type tires?
6. What else am I missing that I don't know to ask?
Any feedback would be much appreciated

I've had my car for one month today, so I can only answer #3 and #4 for you.
#3. Yes. But it's not all bad - the wing is just at the same height in your rear window as pickup trucks with bright headlights. I get a lot less of that in my GT3 than I did in previous (997, 997.2, 991) Carreras.
#4. It's very quick. It will activate up to about 37 mph and the lift is very quick - a second or two is all it takes.
I have Dunlops and live in sunny SoCal (85 in Palm Springs for a bike ride on Saturday) so no experience yet with rain. Magazine articles seem to think the Dunlops are better in rain than the PSC's, but everyone agrees that both tires suck in the rain. For a DD in a rainy climate, I'd swap out the tires for PSS's. I have my Panamera for rainy days.

The only 2014 cars that were "branded" are cars that were refused by the buyer requiring a manufacturer buy back. That totaled around 30 of the 440+ US cars. All other 2014s have clear titles and the owners received compensation, an additional year of warranty and a driving event in Atlanta that is being planned right now.

Nikolas is correct. Only the cars bought back by PCNA have the branded titles.
The lift is very quick. You will have no issues getting in and out of driveways quickly.
PSC's are not good in the rain at all. Agree with Dmoore, get some PSS's for daily use if you drive a lot in the rain.
Rear visibility is not that good. The wing is smack in your line of sight of traffic behind you. I just use the side mirrors now. You need to be a little careful backing up since they have no rear cameras.
The only other thing you are missing is the GT3 in your driveway. Go get one and enjoy it. It's an awesome machine..

I got a backup camera installed and it gives me a lot of confidence backing into a space.
I usually activate the lift a block ahead of time as long as I will be going less than 35 mph.
I have driven 1600 miles on psc2 in rainy Seattle. As long as you are careful with puddles /standing water. They are probably ok. Will get PSS this fall. It is a better dd tire.

i apologize but i have a few basic questions. I don't have the opportunity to drive a gt3 first.
1. Does it really matter that it's a 2014 and the engine was replaced? No
why is the title "branded" and what are the long term implications? Like salvage title - generally calls for reduced value when changing hands - req'd when customer demands dealer or PAG buy back the car when engine replacement/stop-sale occurred.
i understand the warranty is extended a bit? One year
is it a comprehensive warranty or just the engine part? Comprehensive
2. The car would become my dd. Are the pilot sport cups reasonable on wet rainy days? No, they have minimal rain grooves
3. Is the rear visibility impacted by the rear wing? Yes
is backing out of a parking space a chore? Somewhat, but not real bad
4. How long does it take for the lift to deploy? ~10 seconds
is it practical for pulling into a gas station etc without a significant pile up of cars behind? Depends...push the button in advance as you slow to enter
5. What can one expect for tire life if not tracked? 10k miles on rears maybe more on fronts
is it reasonable to replace tires with 991s type tires? Sizes are not same size in rear
6. What else am i missing that i don't know to ask? Feel free to ask
Any feedback would be much appreciated

Are you planning to us it as your DD? I'm curious myself if it's practical or not. I live in Seattle and the roads are not too bad compared to some i've seen. My commute to work is less than 7 miles.

My current DD IS THE 991S. My weekend car is the 650S. I hardly drive the 650 as all I do is work. Hence im downsizing to one car the GT3 that will a blend of my current cars.
Makes a for a nice compromise.

I agree with what you are doing... makes no sense to have a 12C and a 650S both Spiders. They are very very similar in driving experience. A 991 GT3 will be a very distinctive car compared to your other Porsches.

Thank you all!
Sad to say my HRE's are not Centerlocks and are listed for sale here.
Please direct anyone you know that may be interested.
