GT3 - Canada to US
Hey all, I've tried searching and have found no info. I am looking into buying a 997 Gt3 from Canada and bringing it back to Texas. Is this a useless cause or is it a simple process? It seems to be the same car for both countries except the speedometer. Input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Cars are indeed the same.
Simple process, just need to do a few things in advance. I have bought a few cars from the US, not sure if its the same to the US. I would assume its even easier. When importing a car into Canada they want all the papers, recall letters, bill of sale in advance.
If you are shipping the car with a good transport company, they will have it all down to a science and can easily take care of the process.
CPO should be good in both countries as well.
2-2.5% import duty.

Do research. I'm pretty sure there is no easy way to bring in a car from Canada that is under 25 years old. The car might be identical but unless it has a US VIN, you might be in for weeks of headache plus paying your states sales tax and duty tax.

You can check which cars can be imported. RIV list.

My daughter relocated from Canada to WA and imported her Canadian vehicle. Speedo change for sure, maybe an inspection. No big deal.
Maybe reach out to this guy for info...

Congrats Grant. I have almost the same story (and almost the same car!). I found the Vantage I wanted in Vancouver, flew up and bought it, and drove it back to the San Francisco area. It's also a black-on-black with red calipers -- what a great combination. The only difference is I have the sport wheels. Hope you're enjoying yours as much as I'm enjoying mine.

Definitely not everything wrong . You have to pay duty tax and sales tax in order to title the car in your state (depending on state ofcourse). For me, buying a car in Canada would cost at least purchase price + 2.5% duty tax + 6% sales tax + whatever it costs to get the car from location to me (airfare and hotel to fly up and drive down to border then either drive it 500 miles home or spend ~1k to ship). Texas would be more expensive to ship obviously.

I have sent 3 cars to my brother in California.
It's very easy to buy a Canadian car. Of course you have to pay sales tax when you register the car in your state, that's a given. If the car does not fall under NAFTA then you will be 1.8-2.5% duty. We pay upwards of 6% duty buying from the US.
