Why does everybody hammer the interior of the Vette, the 996 interior is horrible.

I did see the ZO6 at the autoshow last week though and I'd really like to try one of those. Maybe next year. Definetly passing on the 997S though. I got to drive it a couple of times and honestly just wasn't blown away, at least not 90K blown away.

I am talking about the quality. The 997 may even be worse, the soft touch paint on the controls in incredibly stupid, I have seen 997's with a few thousand miles with worn seat bolsters, and paint worn off the fan switch. The turn signal stalk on the 996 feels like a plastic straw and overall the quality is very marginal. All of the used 996's I have seen look very used, compared to say a Mercedes or BMW. I would say they are probably on par with the Vette in terms of overall quality. I love the cars, but at least be honest.

Like I said, if you are honest about it, the Porsche interiors are marginal irregardless of price. When you consider the price its almost insulting.
Are they functional? Do they look nice? Yes. Do they hold up well even under average use. No.
I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but the two older Porsches I owned both low mileage were horrible and the 996's I shopped weren't basket cases but simply did not retain their integrity well at all.
If they had, I'd be driving one.

The E46 is now dated, but the E65, E60 look great IMO. Very modern and classy. The 996 is just boring, and looks very generic, espacially for a 100k car. The 997 GT2/GT3/TT should look a little better, we will see.

When I look for a car with a great interior, Porsche is not it.
When I was looking for a Sports Car the GT3 was the one of me. I do not spend much time looking at the interior and I do not need a GPS.
If I need that stuff I will take on of my pigs (Range Rover, 540)
