Monday we will have a c6 z06 on the track with a skilled driver. I expect there will also be a couple of GT3s and a GT2.

I have to say it has the numbers. It also will store data(gs and other) The tire monitoring system has a very wide range to prevent the ECU issue.

I hate the interior. It would be a great car to tear out everything to the metal or plastic. Needs roll bar and exhaust.

That Corvette needs some race shocks, too-- the fender-to-wheel gap looks huge.

So let's see: $70,000 Z06 start price if you buy for close to MSRP, plus tax and blah-blah, say $74k? Now the fun begins: Recaro SPG or OMP HTS Comp carbon-kevlar seats and brackets, about $5k; harnesses and extinguisher system: $1k; chromoly rollcage, $3k for parts, design and materials, plus about $2k labor (can be done cheaper, this is for top-line work); JRZ or Moton double-adjustable dampers, uprated swaybars, about $5,500 plus labor; swap some gauges, maybe get the interior redone to get rid of the cheesy plasticene look: ??? New wheels to replace the oogly stockers: $4,000. In short order, I'm driving a $94,000-plus track beast.

Price of a used '04 GT3 with, like, practically no mi.-- mid-80s?

It makes no sense, but I would *still* want a Z06 for a track car, as long as I could still have a Porsche for fun. 540 h.p. sounds really good...

Why does everybody hammer the interior of the Vette, the 996 interior is horrible.

Different strokes for different folks. I really like the interior on my 996 Turbo. I can't stand the interior of the Vette.

interior

It has nothing to do about quality. I do not like how closed in the driver is and I feel like an old man in a cadi trying to see over the dash.

Like I said the car looks like a great start. I would gut it, put in a pair of seats, roll bars. harness, exhaust, and get rid of the tire monitoring.

I do not see that as a big deal. I do not know anyone that has a stock anything if it is tracked often. Well CGT, even that needs seats and a harness.

I agree on the interior comment, the interior just isnt what I think it could be, they should have seats that are a bit sportier and that would probably change most of the interior look, plain looking "greocery" getter seats don't really fit the profile of a 500hp sports car.

The new Z06 seats are a great improvement over my old Z06's interior. Those seats were like you were sitting on a park bench that had some padding and leather.

Not sure what your point is here. How much does it cost one to create a GT3 RS Clone prepped for the track with race seats and a cage, like the Z06 you describe above?

You should be warned that according to Lou Gigliotti from LG Motorsports, the current brake pad compound appears to be lacking and wears very quickly at the track; that compounded with the fact that new pads are not yet available from the dealer. Lou actually swaped the stock brakes for StopTech's because of the pad issue.

no need to warn me. I am a GT3 guy. I will pass the information on to the new owner.
